overheating and stumped, checked everything
Do you get scorching heat out of the vents at idle?
I've bled my system three or four times doing the following (About 30-60 minutes):
1. Fill the reservoir between MIN and MAX
2. Fill up radiator using my spill free funnel (I never use the air relief valve)
3. Start car up and idle it
4. Rev engine a few times to 2K maybe 3K
5. Do this in short intervals
6. Turn off car do it again a few times.
7. Feel/squeeze the top and bottom rad hoses checking how hot they feel. After doing this a few times, I'm 90% confident the engine is cooling as needed. I still have to remove the bubbles from the heater core.
8. I close everything up
9. Drive it a couple of miles carefully watching the thermostat. Keep in mind I'm still getting cold air out the vents, but the engine is pretty steady temperature.
10. I then pretty much floor the car down the highway and the bubbles work themselves out, lol.
11. By this time the heat is scorching at idle.
12. Check the reservoir when the car is cold and fill as needed.
13. Carry around a jug with some extra coolant since bubbles still work themselves out.
I've done it like this every time without any issue and car has never overheated. The one thing you need is patience.
