I have a 2004 g35 coupe 6mt that I recently purchased. I also have a 2004 G35 coupe that is a 5AT.

The 5AT has much quicker acceleration, and it pulls and accelerates stronger.

The CEL light is not on on the 6mt. It idles smooth, accelerates smooth, I feel no miss or cutting out under acceleration. Its just sluggish compared to the 5AT, and its a very noticeable difference.

The 6mt has 167K miles on it and the 5AT has right at 100k.

I need to do a compression test for starters, but besides that, does anyone have any suggestions?

 

When was your last tune up, whats your tires size, how well do you maintain it.

 

167k sounds like the throttle body could be gunked up. as well as crap plugs would hinder performance. Hell, the Cat's might even be plugged. get it all checked. oh, and do NOT try to clean the MAF sensor. Our models have been known to crap out once they are sprayed with MAF cleaner. It's hundreds of dollars to replace.

 

He had plugs so worn they were 2 x the stock plug length.

 

That may only be the start of his issues
