G35 coupe makes rattle noise when cold start and sometimes while driving

Hey guys I’m new here and couldn’t find a thread about this issue. I have a 05 coupe rev up it has a manual transmission and 125k miles. The car makes this rattle noise every time I cold start it. And lately I can hear it a couple seconds when I let off the accelerator at around 3k rpm. The noise seems to be coming from the engine bae. I haven’t found any helpful information on this just a bunch of other people with the same issue and no fix.

There could be multiple causes of your rattling. Have you gone in the engine bay or under the car yet and checked for loose components? I'll take a shot in the dark here and say your catalytic converter heat shields might be starting to come apart. It's a common problem.

The clutch and flywheel also start sounding like gravel when they're worn and about to need replacing. If you are on the original clutch at 125k you're probably REALLY close to that mark.

well i replaced the timing chain and tensioner cuz I heard that could be it. However the noise is still there and it’s been happening more often. I checked all my pulleys too and they are still good I haven’t checked the heat shield and my clutch is slipping I’m planning on replacing it soon. Idk if maybe the timing kit that i bought was just too cheap. I payed 75 for it but i just seen one that was 400. I might just try and replacing it for the 400 dollar one. I don’t think it’s the clutch cuz the noise is coming from the front of the engine but I could be wrong. I just hope I don’t run into a minor issue with the actual engine since money is short right now and that’s my only car

Good suggestion. I forgot about that since mine has had the "marbles in the transmission" since it was brand new, and I'm immune to the noise now.

Update

I changed my oil from 5w 30 to 10w 30 and it stopped the rattling while driving. Now it just rattles when I start it. Ima go ahead and get a oem timing kit maybe that will do it.
