Gauge cluster issue (odometer)
Gauge cluster issue (odometer)
So, I picked up a molested g35 to daily and restore the body, but im having random issues with the car...for one being the odometer having flickering numbers. When the car is cold it reads 197xxxkm
When it hits operating temp the 1 and the 9 turn into a partial 1 and the 9 becomes a 3.
anybody else have similar odometer issues?
***The trunk release has been rewired and out of nowhere it stopped working, I'm assuming a poor ground, or knicked wire is to blame***

Both are fairly common points of failure on these vehicles. The trunk wires break at the flexible loom to the trunk. The instrument cluster has components that peel off due to expansion/contraction from weather.
Probably need a new instrument cluster and some soldered wires to the trunk. Troubleshoot before replacing, the cluster can he put in diagnostic mode to see if things are an external or internal issue.
Section DI -D Information of the FSM.

There is also a switch in the glove box to disable the trunk release, make sure it's not switched off.
Manual trunk release is accessible by folding down the rear seat. Dig between the seat base and the back rest right in the middle of the seat, there is a red pull cord to release the seat and fold it back. Reach inside and pull the manual emergency trunk release on the inside of the trunk lid.
