2004 Infinity g35 Severe electrical issues won’t accelerate

I bought the car 3 days ago... the owner had the battery charging when we got there and he put it in when we bought it, he said he had no problems with the vehicle prior. 10 minutes after driving away the car shut off completely while I was driving then it turned back on and went full rpms, we opened the hood and the positive to the battery was lose and disconnected, so I assumed the problem was fixed and that was the issue. Then the next day I tried helping a random guy jump his car and he had put THE JUMPER CABLES ON BACKWARDS, and it sparked and what not but my car seemed fine after until I went and got gas, when I tried turning my car back on at the gas pump it wouldn’t start ( this was only an hour after trying to jump this guys car) then 10 minutes later the car was just able to start without a jump?? Then this morning I took it to work and when I was at a stop light I couldn’t accelerate and the slip light came on, then 10 seconds later the car went full throttle by itself and got up to 30 without me on the pedal!!! I parked it and turned it off then it wouldn’t turn back on. I went into work without trying to jump it,but on my break 2 hours later I went outside and it was just able to start? I shut it off to see if I could start it again but it just clicked and the lights on the inside remained on. After a jump the car worked but now won’t accelerate at all and will only go idle speed and the lights in the cabin will flicker and it will rev by itself???? After shutting it off it won’t turn on Please help

First off, that royally sucks.
Check all the fuses & ground points. Lots of current + small awg wire =
I'd say the starter is probably cooked.
Do you have any codes???

The car still starts off a jump but won’t accelerate, something else that’s weird to me is the car worked fine after the guy hooked the jumper cables wrong but has been having extreme electronic difficulties ever since that day, car ran perfectly fine before. Just this morning I took it to work and had a blast driving it 0 issues shifts smooth asf, then on my lunch break the slip thing happened and then When I turned it off my car was just dead but still had power in the cabin it turned like 3 times then after that it would only click, 3 hours later it started right up no jump I turned it off, dead again... then when I got off I tried starting it it turned but wouldn’t start then it would only click after a jump it turned on and I tried accelerating and it would only idle no rpms at all and my cabin lights were flickering, I turned it off and it’s been dead since.

Defective battery perhaps?

Test it or replace it. Check the date codes on the battery

Why didn't you have the vehicle inspected prior to purchase?

  • yea I’m almost sure at this point that I have a faulty battery, and I think having the jumper cables on backwards blew some fuses as well. I tried turning my car on when I got to work this morning (it was left there overnight) when I unlocked it all the cabin lights came on and even the roof lights, when I tried starting it, it turned 3 times then dead, so I atleast know the alternator is charging the battery a little bit, but the battery is probably cooked so it can’t build enough power to start the vehicle. I also feel like not being able to use the gas peddle and the car just idleing could be due to a blown throttle body fuse

I took all off my fuses out and none were broken, so I took the battery to autozone they charged it up (it was at 50%) then they said that the battery was good, so I took it back put it in my car and it started right up no problem all of the issues seem to be gone as of right now, I will keep this thread open as I’ve only driven 15 miles since it’s been good

Reverse polarity arcing a battery usually fries it immediately. I suspect it's going to drain off current too quickly and you're going to be back with more random problems.

Replace the battery, NEVER LET SOMEONE JUMP WITH YOUR CAR unless you know what you're doing and can guarantee they aren't going to smoke YOUR computers. My gut feeling is you cooked the ECM which is causing the random throttle issues, for some reason it's reading APP signal when there is none.

EDIT: Just realized the high revving was happening before the arc jump. You probably have a faulty APP sensor. You can remove the pedal, disconnect the switch harness and see if it's binding up or something. Probably needs to be replaced though.
