I dont think disconnecting the battery resets the ECU. If done correctly, the light will blink in a specific series. You will also hear a faint clicking sound if you are in a quiet place.
Sean, ran into a big issue. The bolt on the front passenger plenum the holds the main wire loom snapped off. I can get the end off the bolt off. Can I just relocate it slightly over to the top plenum mount that has no bolt?
when i did it, the light blinked quite a few times, and then just stayed solid, no matter what i was doing with my feet. and when i disconn the battery, i pump the brake pedal some to discharge the stored power in the ecu. that should reset it

as long as the rest of the wires reach where they need to it is OK. You can probably drill out the broken bolt and put the wires back..it looks better that way.

no, if done correct, it will flash 10 times at a normal speed the go into a series of quick flashes
no, its not my radio presets, its an actual tuning of my stereo system that was tuned with a db meter. great dvd deck and nice option to fine tune but its a bitch cause im always having to reset my ecu for upgrades..
im not dissing the kit at all. i like it. the ecu resetting is a different story for me. nothing to do with the quality of the kit.

I actually did the ECU reset the first time through without any issues. Its all about the timing. I basically memorized Seans' instructions for the pedaling/timing sequence and just used the second hand on my watch. I had a slow blink, then a faster blink before I turned the car into the off position. Worked perfectly for me.
The only question I ran into and didn't really ask was the OEM grounding wires on the front of the timing cover. I think 6MTs only have a single grounding wire in the front where the ATs have 2. The location on the instructions said to place the cables from the kit in the second grounding location (to the right) but that was just an empty bolt hole for me. So I just used the one and only OEM grounding wire location that I had. Everything still fit fine.
Here are some shots of my install (I circled the area I am talking about). Let me know if anything needs to be moved. Thanks again Sean!
