On ma way 2da dealer Part II

Tell me if this is bull...My appt was at 2pm...The damn tech whose supposed to look at my problem ( oil consumption ) took his lunch at 2 pm so I had to wait. Ok so WTF I'll wait an hour. No big deal. After about an hour and a half the serviced advisor came out and told me that my car was good. The tech said the engine consumed only a quarter of a quart. So in my mind the damn engine is still eating oil. The Serviced Advisor said that this is due to a delay in the break-in process!!!? 2000 miles is the break in period usually..My car has 9000 miles already. So I guess my engine is one of those late bloomers. It didn't grow up until 9000 miles instead of 2000 miles. Well no matter what this VQ engine is a POS. It's sad. Sad experience.

there you have it, just more lies.... wow, good job for keeping your cool man, i would have said some very bad words. between a sub-par engine and the worst service center i have ever seen, another good reason not to by a infiniti in hawaii, now if there was a second dealership and they compitation EVERYTHING would change here. thats the problem, if they **** off costomers they dont care, cause where else can we go..

you should ask him why there is a delay in the break in process and how come other vqs don't have a delay in the break in process. See what he says. If worst comes to worst tell them that your just gonna return the car don't know if this really works but my friend thats a service manager at new city said that if you threaten to return the car then they'll start working with you. He also said that there is some key words that you must say in order for the dealership to do the warentee work or what not. For example he told me that if I wanted my brakes changed that I would tell them that I feel a vibration on the PEDAL not the steering wheel when I press the brakes.

My G had a problem where it consumed a lot of oil. Well at least that's what they told me. I complained about hearing a loud banging or clicking noise coming from the front of the car. But they topped off the oil once then had me come back after a few hundred miles. They didn't make me go back and fourth as many times as you. After I brought it back they said they are going to replace the short block. That sucks that the problem hasn't been fixed yet. Good luck, hope this get's resolved soon.

And so whats the results now? Just wondering since I had a slight oil consumption issue earlier. Though it seems to have let up after quite a while. So, at this time....it's okay.

On a side note though, personally...I think that any direct references to naming a direct person should be sent through PM. Out of courtesy...and after all this is his job that we are discussing on a public forum.

Its been that way for the first 20K miles. Well I noticed it after 13K. Though...funny it seems to have gone away now. I am about .5-1 quart low per 3400 miles. Roughly average...or within acceptable amounts of loss.

Even the last service manager was mentioning that they have been noticing that these engines seem to seat really late. There are some issues though with the VQ consuming oil....but they are taking them at a case by case scenario. Its unfortunate for the ones that have it...but if it was a widespread issue as it is made to be...then we should theoretically all have been issued recalls. Considering that this engine is used in pretty much all of the vehicles...M35, G35, 350Z, Altima, Maxima, Quest, and VQ40 variant in Frontier.

Nissan actually has been pretty good about recalls and the handling of them. Remember the original Nissan Van...well several years after it was out, there was an engine overheating issue. Nissan bought back all the vans at a better than fair market value, almost regardless of the condition.

Truth be told...I am not too sure why some are consuming more oil than others...but for the most part, the techs have been trying to work things out for the most of us...even when the cars have been modified. However though, they still have their own mainland corporate BS to deal with...like all companies managed by a mainland core group/division.
