well i dont see why your posting on the hawaii forum about doing what we want and doing what you want because we are doing what we want. We might have opinions about people on the mainland but our main concern was the "dip**** racing the RSX" lol I dont know why you want to start **** with us. you're right, nothing anyone can do will ever stop street racing. especially if you're in a situation where tracks aren't readily available. i'll be the first one to admit i street race. at 2:00am when the freeways are empty i punch it a few seconds (hardly ever pass 120mph, which usually only takes a few seconds anyways). it doesn't endanger anyone but myself and the other driver and we both know the possible outcome of our actions. i don't think sen-jen (original author of this thread) had a problem with the fact that he was racing, but more with the manner in which he did it (probably crowded streets, etc). if you "street race" (some wouldn't even call it that cause of how short it is) the way i do NO ONE would have a problem because no one but me and the other driver knows. once i see other cars i slow down. and like i said earlier, i usually only race against respectable cars like porsche, bmw, corvette, mercedes, etc which are design for going fast. i just don't feel comfortable driving in the same area as a civic, accord, corolla, miata, sentra, etc doing 100+mph. those cars just aren't design for high speeds (i don't care how much suspension mods you do). i guess when it boils down to it, it's all about being considerate, if you're going to do something stupid (like street race), make sure you only endanger yourself and others who knowingly and willingly accept the possible consequences!

 

OOHHH!!! YES! I'll buy your lip and suspension but I have rims on the way.. Hmm we'll see though about th erims. If funds permit I'll pick up that too.

 

I'm surprised you folks don't have more options and also that your local track is closed on Fridays/Saturdays. Unfortunately for us here on Oahu the only track we have is dead.........gone bye bye, so there is absolutely no other option.

Now as far as the government doing things. What would you want them to do? Perhaps if there are reasonable alternatives a movement can start up there to help you folks out.



Street racing.............yes it's always been there. I've had this discussion with one of my coworkers who was in Socal during the 70's muscle car scene. They used to line up all abreast on the freeway and literally block off the freeway so only they could line up and go. There was no potential for other cars to get into the cars that were racing due to the distance between on ramps up there. Down here with the amount of on ramps we have, that would be an impossibility. The other item of note is these guys were primarily running 1/4 stretches, they were not running several miles as the kids do today.

So yes it's always been around, but not in the form it is today where these morons run in and out of traffic. You should also know that the average driver down here does not pay attention to what's going on around them, a lot since they are on their cells (Hawaii I believe still has the highest per capita cell phone usage in the US and believe me when I say those guys aren't taking The Bus).

I was there too when racing on the freeway was the nightly activity and shakas was the thing to do intead of beefing.

well back in the day the whole parking lot would be filled with cars. It was a like a weekly thing. Then the accidents started to happen and cops were cracking down on everything. Then no one showed up.
