VQ Engine problem

I think this happens 1 in a million chance only and I happen to be that one in a million to where my VQ engine is consuming oil. Last October of last year I had my oil change at the dealer so I would be due this month. I noticed that when I leave for work and drives the car I hear a rattling noise like metal to metal contact in the engine. So when I get to work I parked the car and wait for about 15 min. or so and checked my dip stick four times and I don't see any visible oil between high and low. **** me! So today I added two quarts of oil, and the noise stopped. Has this problem ever happen to you guys before? I hope not, but I would like to hear about it. I called the dealer and Jason said they'll look at it tomorrow.

I've been getting that rattling sound at startup. Even after a fresh change of oil. At times I see the oil light come on during startup...sometimes it doesnt. I think the problem lies in the oil pump. Not sure though. All engines consume oil...some consume more than others. Mines isnt too bad.

i've read that oil consumption is common on the VQ engine. some eats more oil than others. whenever i change my oil every 3000 miles, i put in 5 quarts of oil. I notice every time im missing 1-1.5 quarts of oil. I don't consider mine a major problem, but if ur missing 3 quarts or more u gotta get it checked out.

Oil Consumption!

Yes, I know of many people here in Atlanta that have had the same problem including myself on my 04 Gsedan! The motor can consume oil by way of blow-bi (oil burning off through the intake manifold) this is due to high revving. Its particially due to how the motor is designed. Unfortunately like myself most people don't know that its happing and continue to drive there car hard with low oil levels damaging internal components then causing knocking and other issue. So, my friend you are one of many that have had this problem!

Lawrence
