Recon Sux

I recently had an alignment done since I lowered my car and I decided to be by the book this time and go over to the Recon station to get a Recon sticker mind you I haven't done any drastic modifications to my car other than change out the rims, an intake and front camber kit. I had my alignment specs in hand and thought $15.00 is too much to be asking but the sticker is good for the life of the car. I get there and the guy looks at my car I fill out the paper with all my modds and show him my alignment specs...

He tells me I failed because I have clear side markers (I have amber bulbs) and there is suppose to be an AMBER reflector in there and an AMBER bulb. I told him that I have had my car inspected with the clear sidemarkers by Infiniti of Honolulu and they didn't say anything was wrong with them since I have AMBER bulbs. Anyway a waste of my time and money.

It's a PITA but it is illegal on oahu to have clear side markers no matter what color bulbs you have, cops can still give you a ticket for that. (one of a number of laws about cars on oahu that seem a little excessive imo...)

Yeah I can go back with in 90 days but I have to schedule another appointment and they only do recon inspections Monday thru Friday from 12 to 3PM and I will have to pay another 15 dollars. Even if I didn't get the recon sticker you still have to pay each time you go...

I have my amber sidemarkers if I would have know the Recon was just as indept as a Safety check I would have threw them in my trunk to be on the safe side. I thought the Recon was to address my suspension since that's what was changed and their hotline mentions changes to the intake, suspension and drivetrain...

I got my recon last week, thanks to all the info here on this forum I passed. One thing that caught me off guard is not having a 3 sticker plate. I installed a 2 sticker one and the guy at recon wouldn't give me the sticker unless he put them on. So I have a recon sticker on my bumper, but it doesn't look so bad.

perry, did you pass the front license height restriction? (maybe a sedans is higher than the coupes)

What are the new laws for intakes? I bought the car with a cold air already installed but don't have any paperwork for it...

I saw them taking measurements for the front plate I assumed they were checking my ride height since I had springs installed. I had my alignment specs so yes I did pass that...

They checked the intake as long as it's seated properly that's all that mattered. As far as sides get someone here to let you borrow theirs and return them after you get the sticker.

^^^ Another sticker on my bumper... Yikes I wonder if the Recon sticker will just attract cops to stop me just to verify I haven't changed anything else since getting the recon sticker....
