G35 Belts

I was checking for any maintanence that needed to be done on my 04 G35. I was looking at the belts and they seem to have some cracks on several areas (i guess from not being conditioned). I was wondering if anyone knew how to change them out, and if anyone had the tools to do so. Also, if anyone knows what size they are...it will be awesome as well. thanks

My service manager just told me at my last oil change that my power steering and alternator belts need to be replaced. My car was purchased in September '03, so it's going on 5 years. He said he was surprised that neither of my belts had broken yet, because they break "reliably" every four years.

All I can say is I'm glad we have timing chains!

Doubt it. I noticed a squeak coming from under the hood of a used FX we have on our lot. Popped the hood and daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayum the A/C drive belt was split down the middle. I mean da kine so obvious I didn't even need to hunt for the sound as it was right there in front of me. Obviously it needed to be replaced. '05 w/ only 20-30 something k on the clock so still under bumper to bumper, but because belts are considered wear and tear items...no warranty.

The best part was how one of my retarded managers didn't even notice the sound the car was making. I was like "how can you NOT notice something that annoying?" I work with idiots. More worse, he bought the car from the auction. Thorough inspection beforehand much?

Drive belts usually last 3-5 years before there is any major wear and tear on them, though your actual experiences may vary... Once they start cracking though, it's good preventative maintenance to change them out. They rarely break, but when they do, it's usually bad news. ( no power steering, or a/c and alternator crap out and the car dies. )

Belts are also considered a wear item... just like brakes and clutches.

We need to setup a cruise/install day. Did this in Florida a couple of times. Go for a cruise and end up and someone's house and install something or do some maintenance.

* This post brought to you by the guy that's been on the island almost 3 years and has yet to make a cruise.

Parents visiting. I'm already ditching them for the car show on the 4th and a concert on the 5th. I think I'll still be able to disappear for a couple of hours on the 6th.
