Stay away from Waikiki unless you want to club.

There's a few other similar posts in this forum if you look back far enough.

Depends on the time.
If you're coming for one week, stay on one island. If you've got two, do two.
What did you want to do? Beaches? Historical sites? Be away from people? Do "extreme" sports.

if you wanna dive Oahu, I suggest two dive operators: Reef Trekkers and Ocean Concepts. They both will pick you up at your hotel. I do feel that Ocean Concepts has better site selections, but both are safe and have good staff.

I say if you wanna relax go Big Island Kona and stay at Waikaloa. Really would stay at the resort mostly tho cuz not to much around it. but still get some small malls to do some shopping to and nice restaurants. And i agree stay away from waikiki, beach ridiculously crowded, all the shops have major mark-up, to much crap going on at night

Hey Joker you know you're not supposed to take the rental cars off road right?

Seriously though man, we take the rentals off road and mess them up when we go fishing.

Funny to stumble onto this thread!! I'm headed to Hawaii for the first time myself at the end of the month with the wife on business. I was wondering the same things.

Thanks for the tip on the Diving! Keep the suggestions coming!
