Not if your doing top end runs. Funny to run into jokers in M3s that can't drive worth .... when corners come into play. Driving skills first and foremost.

I have pulled on all the auto G's I have run on top end highway runs. They get me in the mid range about 110mph (mid my 4th gear and before the variable kicks in) and I pull back to about 125 and kept a solid lead to 145+. I think the G might have a speed limiter since it look like it hit a wall around 135ish. I never ran any 6spd Z or G. Never lost to any other Maxima or Altima. Mind you some very close runs. And I destroy the 4spd auto alti/max 2k2/2k3 on the highway after 110 since their gear sucks. Low end they have the torque for sure but my modded 5spd Max can go toe to toe with a stock alti/max 3.5 5spd or 6spd from a roll. Three basic bolt ons intake/y-pipe/b-pipe (~$500 in performance mods) thats it on my 3.0 engine. Never ran any modded ones though just random encounters on 3 lane open highways in remote parts of china. :-)

Bottomline an excellent driver in a 5spd (with a few mods) or 6 spd max will beat an Ok driver in a 6spd G. Stock Auto Gs will not pull away and might even lose. Much closer than most will think. ie. within a car length

Trust me I know this is my current car:

Just sold it for a 2005 M6 Sedan
That's one NICELY modded Max! What's your name on the org? Glad to see someone representing the 3.0, we usually get picked apart

I agree it's all a drivers race and a matter of who's going to hit it first. Your mods could hardly give you more than 10-20hp to the wheels depending on what you have plus the heavier wheels. Even after the VI changeover I don't see how the Max can keep up let alone pull on a G with just basic boltons without even an exhaust/headers/hi flow cats. Yet I know of both 3.0 and 3.5 5th gens that have beaten 6MT Gs. You can beat someone on skill alone, but you can't compare a Max to a G. Enjoy your new G.

Yesterday, while driving to Fedex on the Nimitz overpass, some idiot purposely cut me off. I merged into his lane trying to avoid a waterfilled Hickam exit. I waved and thanked him but I guess he took that personally. So he intentionlly cuts me off, I change lanes a minute later because that lane slowed and cuts me off again! I pull on the side of him and this dude is staring me down with a nice little birdy. So, like the courteous person that I am, I rolled my window down so he could get a better look at my beautiful brown eyes and just laughed at him. LOL!!! Dumb a$$ haole
