Shipping big things to Hawaii....
How do they work that, for example, a new exhaust, or something like the Stillen hood for S/C....whats the typical rates for large things like that?

For the OEM front lip from everythingg35 in AZ:
Shipping to Hawaii runs right around $100-105 as it has to go by air and is an oversized 2 package.
(The size is 70"x18"x8" for the package).
They ship by DHL

you just reminded me of a similar topic...
Do they still have that super ferry? the one where you could go on a boat with your car to the neighbor islands? Or did that never fully take off?

$400 for my Data Labia through DHL. $300 overnight for my shoes through USPS. $120 for my exhaust through FedEx. $18 for PIAA fog light bulbs and JDM Clears. CF hood through DHL $150 (previous car). $60 for Tein Flex's w/EDFC through UPS (previous car). $100 for 2 empty bottles of nitrous (previous car). if i can find more receipts, i'll post up more.
you guys should consider using http://www.shiptohawaii.com/ for large, bulky items from the mainland. you can save money on shipping.
You always have the option of shipping per your method (or don't buy from the vendor).
You can use a freight forwarder (such as DHL/Danzas). They get your package and stick it in a container out of a west coast port (different forwarders work out of different ports). Once the container is filled, or if they have regular deliveries of containers such as once a month, it gets shipped out. Definitely the cheapest method, but it will take more time to get your materials. The problem with this is getting your package to the freight forwarder. FedEx/US Postal/UPS are in the town of the vendor almost 100% of the time, but you might need to pay a trucker to take your materials to the freight forwarder's port.
In any case, it's probably best to talk to one and have them give you a price. Compare that against the 2 day air cost and see which one is better for your situation.

i just pay the shipping for it to come ASAP. i used to order parts with previous cars through methods like so, but the wait is crazy. the only vendors i go through are the one's with high reputation for fast cars, tuning, quality, and customer service. i guess i have no patience.

Ok, good info, thanks guys. I'm just thinking of the future, when I get my G S/C'ed, I will either go HKS or stillen. I hate the stillen hood, but because of the warranty from stillen, I might go that way. Also, the CARB exemption is important, as I will be eventually going back to Cali
