Enterprise Rental Car Experience
Okay, I know, this ain't a Nissan forum but I remember reading a thread a while back about where you guys take your Gs in for service, so I thought I'd share this one.
FYI, I drive a Nissan (and soon, a G coupe) and take it in to New City Nissan. (BTW, I read that some of you take it to Tony Nissan - what are you f----ng crazy? Their prices are 2x what New City charges for the same exact thing! And still you get no courtesy car!) Anyway, I take my car in to the shop for repairs, which they said was supposed to be about 2 days. Anyway, since New City doesn't offer loaners, I had to rent one from Enterprise Rental Car (across the street, by HNL Ford).
So I go to Enterprise and am told that they'll have a car ready for pickup between 30-60 mins. $32/day (the New City discounted rate) for a Sentra and about $25 for optional insurance & liab. They were very nice and very courteous and explained that they always have cars available and that this was highly unusual. Anyway, the 3 people ahead of me all get their cars and after 2 hours, I still don't have mine.
So I wait around another 30 mins.
And by this time I’m fuming that they don't have any cars available, that I calmly explained to them my frustration and that renting a car for 1/2 day would be a waste. I called New City and told them to cancel the optional part of the servicing so that I could get my car in the afternoon rather than the next morning.
When I went back to the front desk, I told Enterprise to forget the whole thing and they were like, "Oh, wait! Your car came in" and I said that I didn't want it. I told them that of the several other rental chains I dealt w/ here and in Calif., even during the busy travel season, I’ve never had it this inconvenient before and that I expected something a little bit better my first time dealing w/ them. I even said that if they told me upfront that it would take 2.5 hours to get a car, that would've been ok, cuz at least they were straightforward about it and could've planned accordingly.
They felt really bad and started apologizing profusely. So the lady (I’m assuming she's one of the managers) said, "No, please, take the car. We’ll comp the whole thing for you." I was pretty shocked, and she continued saying that they wanted me to have a positive impression of Enterprise. They said they didn't want me to have to worry about the insurance (it's covered under my credit card and auto policy) and threw in full CDW and liability, and said to not worry about the gas (it was full) and to keep it as long as my Nissan was in the shop. So, I had free use of a Civic, free gas and free insurance.
I just returned the car at 5p today, and they were still apologetic, asking if this helped my “ruined” day (yesterday) and if everything was okay. I was starting to feel guilty.
For the record, I was NOT looking to get a free rental car and I wasn’t yelling at them or anything when I told them I didn’t want the car. But I wanted to share this tidbit with you of how awesome the customer service experience was at Enterprise Rental Car.
Of all the companies that gloat about how good their customer service is or how awesome their products are, some are downright failures.
As a side note: If any of you are Dell computer owners, be very careful when buying something or returning something, because the sales rep will make all these promises to you and will conveniently “forget” them when it comes time to deliver. (My lemon of a laptop Inspiron 8500 was so badly manufactured, they offered to discount my $175 extended warranty by $75 – they even put it in an email – then they reneged on it completely and don’t even bother returning phone calls or email.)
Then there are the companies that promise and go way over the top for delivering. GEICO customer service is one, and Enterprise is the other.
I don't really do endorsements, but if any of you ever need a rental car, please see Enterprise. Their customer service is truly unreal!

I actually used to work at Enterprise RAC for 3 months a few years back. In fact, the ERAC i worked at serviced New City Nissan on Ala Moana Blvd. Yes, they pride themselves in customer service. From the moment they "pick you up" and get you going in a car, you are usually dealing with the same person. I also like the fact that they use japanese cars for there rentals. IMO, its better to get the civic instead of something like a cavalier.
Although I didn't like the job and no longer work there, I go to ERAC for my car rental needs. When I had my Integra in the August car show and needed a rental for the weekend, they gave me the best rate, and even picked me up from my apartment. Awesome!

Mportpunk,
That's awesome about Enterprise. You're way more patient then me. I think I would have walked out after waiting 30 minutes.
I know what you mean with Dell. My company just bought me my Dell inspiron 5160 six months ago. Well my wireless card and lan card died. So I call the Dell support and they tell me I have to send in my laptop to get the motherboard and wireless card replaced. I was like forget about it. What was I suppose to do my work with? So I had them send me the new hardware so I could replace them myself. A day later I get the parts and they are referbished parts. The motherboard had all kinds of weird hairs on it. Oh well 40 screws later I finally get my laptop working.
I also built my own pc a few years ago and I never had one problem with the hardware I put in it. Man, I can't wait till this laptop dies so I can get a laptop from a different company.

I was bored so I inquired about some other rentals so every other day i'd come back and pickup another type of car lol... I paid $5-10 more for pretty much their whole lineup lol...
HAHA! that enterprise remember's me! i got into a accident that same day and they gave me hassles. i did some............never mind! enterprise on kapiolani is good though.
All I know is that I got to know a lot of fine ladies at Enterprise when I was working at CUTTER... only because they used to laugh at my knee high shuttle uniform... sporting the legs...

Yeah, normally I'm extremely impatient and don't like waiting for anything more than 10 mins, but I had my laptop w/ me. I had to do some client work over on Kaneohe and they offered to drive me but I told 'em that I had too many opposite-isle errands to do and opted to wait instead. Except I didn't think it was going to be 2.5 hours.
Not to jack my own thread or anything but regarding the Dell situation, yeah, they're absolutely horrible! I ordered an Inspiron 8000 in 2000 w/ a printer scanner, etc., config'd it w/ "free" (as in cont. U.S, not HI) shipping and the periphs came but the laptop didn't. After about 1 month of waiting, about 100 calls later, they finally tell me that when the laptop reached LA, they decided it couldn't "truck-ship" it to HI; I was like WTF? You shipped my damn printer and laptop using the same mode of transit, why not the laptop? and they were like "Oh.... the laptop's been 'returned' to Dell Factory Outlet as a 'used/refurbished' laptop" and that I'd have to reorder.
My "reordered" Inspiron 8100 came in late and w/ out a DVD drive. I called the Return Authorization Ctr and complained about it. The guy, before he would give me my return code, was real slick. Said if he couldn't do anything to entice me to keep the laptop. I said I wanted a DVD. He said he'd give me a "new" DVD drive and to just "ignore" the fact there is a big a.ss refurbished sticker all over it. "It's brand new." Yeah, my a.ss.
To make another long story short, I had SOO MANY problems w/ this Inspiron series - it's the "Chevy Cavalier" of laptops - that I had 2 motherboards, 2 hard drives, 5 LCD screens, a new processor, and 2 keyboards, that they gave me a "new" Inspiron 8500, which I currently have. The thing that truly saved my a.ss was that I, unlike any of my friends, spent $300 on a 3-yr complete care service, which was so worth it.
I was so mad w/ Dell that I started calling them to replace each LCD screen whenever it had the tiniest scratch on it (the keyboard was misaligned when it was built and the keys touched the screen) that I called like 5 times for them to repair it. It costs Dell about $1000 for the screen (it's an Ultra XGA 14") and about $300/hr for labor (it takes 2 hours) for each LCD re-installation (removing the old and putting in the new). On the 6th screen repair, the tech guy said "It's just costing us too much money, we're just going to give you a new one."
Another thing w/ Dell, if you haven't already figured it out, is that their reps will flat out tell you lies just to get you to buy. Like on the Home & Home Ofc end, they'll tell you that when you buy the complete care, you'll get only new parts. (You get refurbished beyond the initial 30 days; doesn't make sense cuz if you have that many problems to call in for repair, might as well return it during that time period.) Then, they said that you only get new parts on complete care systems bought through Business (turns out, the contract says they're all refurbished parts). Normally, I don't have qualms w/ refurbished products, but it seems that every system that I've had "refurbished" was so bad, the part sometimes made the problem worse or not even worked at all.
Buying a Dell laptop w/ complete care is like buying a Chevy Cavalier and getting new headlamps, ECU, transmission, windshield, seats, brakes, airbags, and then, after ten more transmissions, you get another (used) Cavalier, this one w/ the ugly bowtie grille.
So, bottom line, don't do business w/ Dell. Go to Comp USA and get like an HP/Compaq w/ the $400 3-yr replacement warranty. At least w/ Comp USA, they give you a brand-new laptop - it's in the contract. None of that refurbished $hit.
