holy s#!$t...STI on fire

On my way home from the movies last night, as I passed by the punchbowl exit, my wife tells me she just saw a white STI veered off the road and up on the right side embankment. She said the car was smoking and the driver was sitting next to his car.
I have a WRX and used to hang out with some I-Club guys, so I circled back to check it out.
So now I'm on School St. and look down to see the car....I was like holy Shiite, the freakin engine compartment is on fire.
As I get back on the freeway I see that the cops closed off the exit but as I pass by...Now the whole car is on fire...WTF
Hopefully anyone that was in the car made it out all-right.
It just seemed to me that the poor sap just lost it somehow..but it's still sad to see a machine like that going down in flames.
