I think what XLR8SN reminisces are the few first pages of post where owners traded information on what issues they have with their cars, solutions to common problems, what they did about a certain problem, questions about something technical about the car, etc., etc.

Useful topics that many owners experience at one time or another with their car... i.e. Window Issues, IF i wouldnt have read it on the first few pages i wouldnt have know the fact that there is a problem with the passenger side...

Lately all the posts i've seen is of people "chatting" with people, people saying oh i saw you at XYZ place, i feel that thats what phones are for, even e-mail...

Granted, forums are forums but we have a choice to make, do we want THIS forum to be just like ANY other forum, or we want it to be helpful and a good source for others who may have questions about something, that would like to find a solution or an answer on their own just by doing a bit of research on the net instead of having to pay who knows who to troubleshoot something that has been posted it was an issue for them.

Yes, i've posted dumb things as well in the past, but try to keep it within the topic on hand, and dont do it everytime i post...

The choice is yours of how you want to make this FORUM look/feel. If you want to make good use of it for it to be helpful or just something like MySpace...

Now... where where we... yes, lunch time...

dunno, most of my questions relate to tracking the car on the road course. Most of the users here only have experience with doing the 1/4 mile. I usually go to the coupe section and seek answers...most of the "lounging" i do is in the hawaii section.

i have full bank of knowledge about road racing and 1/4, most of them basic, but i know a few things that would benefit those who're interested in any of the ideas i have. i usually contribute to brainstorming for ideas so that everyone would benefit from any idea someone may have. kind of like refining or broadening any idea one may have regarding racing. I'm also up for any suggestions that would benefit me as a roadracer.

engine tidbits...i know a fair share. with some some experience, and family experience with wrenching on cars, i can honestly say i know my way around cars. jensen knows how i used to help out a lot on FH in their automotive forums. i was one of those people who actually cared. If someone posted a question, i'll post an answer if i knew how to answer it. taking into consideration how james responded with whatever remarks he had, it makes me feel that my efforts are unappreciated. lately, i'll just direct people to dealerships than have me answer them; it's easier.

I help with what I know. It's just that when there's people like james, I dunno sometimes.

true, it would be nice to have just technical and useful information. ...but then again, isn't that what the technical forums are for...those sections above us?? i feel that this forum should be anything hawaii g35 related and if you have technical questions, feel free to ask. i think its good to have some off topic, funny, etc... type of posts just to keep it alive and interesting. however, i guess it wouldn't be right to bombard it with useless crap also...like other forums...HI.....how are you doing? hehe.

I guess I could lease a Lexus 330 or a benz but I'm sure the monthly lease price would be higher than $299 per month. BTW limit is 10K miles per year but wouldn't come close to that if its just a winter driving car. Our other car is a family SUV so we would use that for longer drives.

that's true, i forgot about the 'totally free' maintenance thing for the first 3 yrs of ownership. the only bad thing is that, even if it's free, if it keeps breaking down, then that's wasted time on your part. i don't know about the bmw of HNL dealer (or, much less, the ones in Ohio) but there's a bimmer dealer in San Diego that was giving out '03 Toyota Camry LEs (4cyl.) as their loaners - that's pretty sad.

so you're only keeping the car for a few months? is it really that bad to drive RWD up there in winter? just curious, otherwise you'd think that RWD-only MBs and BMWs wouldn't sell at all in rainy/snowy places like Washington, Orgegon, etc.
