Question How do you remove broken/worn nut?

I was rebolting one of 12mm nut from the upper strut mount from under the hood (left front) and over tightened! Does anyone know how to remove it and where to get a replacement? Thanks

did it snap off or jus strip?? if it jus stripped, can u get the nut off? if u can, maybe u can get that bolt re-threaded..that would probably be the cheapest way if its not stripped too bad..

Unhappy

I wouldn't be asking for help if I took it off. The gator grip is too shallow and nut breaker can't fit on. Any other options? Thanks

bolt out from sears works wonders. i've used that A Lot! if that doesn't work, you'll need to dremel the outside of the nut so you can access/squeeze it with another grip tool. i'm getting flash backs of having to swap peoples motors in days!!

Craftsman Bolt Out

Seriously, if you're trying to remove a stripped bolt, these things are awesome. I REALLY stripped a nut trying to replace my sway bars...thought I was screwed. Picked up these bad boys and the nut popped right off.

Oh, and I picked up a replacement part at the Infiniti Dealership. Was like $.50 or something. They have diagrams that make it easy to point out exactly which nut/bolt you're looking for.

Anyways, the torch works but depends on the location on the bolt. You can use a handheld size propane torch. Just heat the base of the bolt to let the metal expand and spray some WD-40 on it. The WD-40 will probably ignite but just wait for it to burn off then try it again.
