*I ate at Ono's and the food was good! A real locals spot.
*Haunama <-- spell check) Bay - that place is awesome for snorkeling. The view was seriously something you see from a movie!
*Did the whole Luau <-- spell check) and I recommend if you do go, just get the cheapest package. The more expensive package is just more drinks, which you can just purchase at the bar, and the seating is supposed to be better, but you still end up seeing the show from any seat. (I went to paradise cove.)
*I'm not sure what street it is....but I think it's called the "International marketplace, kind of like a swapmeet." Me and my chick walk up and down that street several times and just stopped by and ate at random places. Try eating at one of those japanese restaurants. The food the sooooooo good!
Well.....sorry this ended up being so long.
I can't wait to go back!
Hanauma <--corrected spelling) bay. Nice place huh, what day did you go? If you saw a DP Gcoupe w/black rims I was working that day. Hope you enjoyed your trip and did not step on the reef or feed the fishes

Yeah I went the 1st week in January. I didn't check out the parking lot too much. I think I went either on Jan 3 or Jan 4. But I do know that the day I went, some old asian guy drowned. And the paramedics came and everything...that was kind of freaky! Me and my chick just sat their for like 10 mins debating if we should go in. But we did unend up going in. So you work there? What do you do there? But I did see some G's here and there....and nothing but those dang ABC stores! LOL! I was counting how many I saw....and I seriously saw like 8 in less than 5 mins. I thought starbucks was taking over! hahahha

Just got back from Oahu so i thought i'd update my thread, thanks to all that gave advice and suggestions...visited my sister and her husband who live in pearl city. I also got engaged! took the plunge and proposed on the beach at waikiki at night... went pretty smooth. We are already planning another trip back, because we didn't get to do all that we had planned due to the crappy @ss weather? (gloomy and raining pretty much every day...)

I think I gained 10lbs. from all the food we ate when we were over there... hahaha.. we ate at pretty nice places for dinner, but for lunches it was all zippy's, L&L, ted's burgers, shave ice w/ ice cream, freakin spam misubi, poke and rice, but dam i could go for some garlic shrimp from the shrimp truck (giovanni's)... some place called Side Street Inn near ala moana was freakin tastey too, hehe. Had to cook some spam and rice w/ furikake sprinkled on it yesterday cuz i miss it already, haha..

but yeah, maui or kauai are next on the list. We did the typical tourist things, but also got to see alot of the local side w/ my sis and my girlfriend's cousins.... I don't see how you guys can have anything lowered or rock nice wheels, cuz the potholes suck! hahah and parking is super tight. Here in florida, i park super far in the back away from anyone for fear of dings and shet....but on the islands, everything seems tight. No offense to anyone non-asian, but it was a nice feeling looking around and feeling at home, haha...Cuz everyone was brown! over here i'm surrounded by rednecks, hahaha! There sure was a lot of japanese tourists too, hehe... all in all, except for the weather, oahu was awesome and the beaches were gorgeous. I can't wait go go back... Thought i'd throw some pics in to finish my story

Giovanni’s Shrimp Scampi
Giovanni’s Aloha Shrimp Shack, Oahu, Hawaii

2 pounds large uncooked shrimp
8 ounces Giovanni’s Scampi Marinade

Butterfly the uncooked shrimp by placing the shrimp on its back and cut from head to tail (do not remove the shell or tail and try not to pierce the shell while butterflying.)

After rinsing, in a bowl, add Giovanni’s Scampi Marinade. (Shake bottle well.)

Marinate for 45 minutes or longer. In a sauté pan, place the shrimp (butterflied side down) and cook until nice and pink. Serve with rice.

Sauteed Garlic Shrimp Scampi

3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
12 jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 tablespoons white wine
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons minced garlic, or more
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes, more to taste
2 tablespoons chopped parsley

Heat oil in a medium-sized skillet. Over medium heat, add the shrimp. Cook about 4 minutes. Add the garlic, pepper flakes, lemon juice, wine and salt. Cover and cook 3 minutes. Uncover and beat in the butter. Remove from heat and mix in the parsley. Serve scampi over pasta of your choice.

does anyone know if they sell the giovanni marinade at like Daei or foodland or somewhere online?
