Sedan true dual, what muffer should I use?

Ok, I'm getting down to the wire in finalizing my true dual exhaust system for my sedan. I'm trying to figure out what dual in dual out with 2.5" pipe diameter to use. I'd like to use the Magnaflow 18" long muffler, but that's 4"'s longer than the stock muffler and it will make running 2 pipe's into it a real challenge. I can use the 14", but I'm concerned with increased noise. I'm also thinking of using two Thermal Research 6" round mufflers tied together. If Injen offered a 2.5" pipe diameter muffler, I'd really consider that. Any idea's for some brands I haven't thought of. I know I don't want flowmaster. Has to be dual in and out with 2.5" pipes.

I noticed that you have Injen CAI on your 6mt sedan, how does it perform ? I'd like to get one but I think Injen hasn't specifically built one for 6mt sedan right ?
How long is our stock muffler anyway ? I was also thinking to change to remus mufflers but dunno whether that will cause me more trouble or performance lol

Well, I used the Magnaflow 18" Muffler on my coupe (PN12468). I also used two Blue Streak Glasspacks. All the pipes are 2.25" with an "H" pipe before the glasspacks. My muffler runs crosswise, like the stock muffler. I guess in the sedan you can't do that. Let us know how it turns out.

Not sure on the length, but Dynomax provides a dual in/out 2.5 muffler. It will outperform Flowmaster and most other brands and should be quiter than the Magnaflow. Check out Dynomax for some more info.

I love my Injen intake, it gave me a mild boost in power and a wonderfull sound at WOT. It has performed flawlessly and I recommend it highly. I have don't remember if my intake was coupe or sedan specific, doubt their's any reason do think they'd be different anyhow.

The Stock muffler is 14" long.

Re: Sedan true dual, what muffer should I use?

Well, I went to the muffler shop today and we looked at the issue of what length of muffler would sensibly fit. 18" may not be possible. Biggest let down on the Magnaflow muffler was when I looked inside of it and say what they ment by it having a X crossover internally. It converts the two 2.5" pipes into one 2.5" pipe than it spits again. That totally defeats the purpose for me using a dual in dual out muffler. The Dynomax ultraflow welded can be had in a 14" length dual in and dual out and no X crossover. But I don't like how it use's a fiber base (or fiberglass) for it's sound deadening. The Magnaflows use stainless steel wool instead. I'm either going to use 2 stainless 6" round Magnaflow by 14" mufflers or same type of muffler from Thermal Research. I'd really like to use two Injen SES mufflers, but I think they're to wide to stuff side by side and at $189 each, that kinda kills that idea.

Gsedan35,

Have you seen this setup? I think it looks good.

No I haven't. Looks like a Mercedes. Is that a Greddy or Injen?

Gsedan35,

The car might be a BMW and the exhaust European aftermarket.

I have no info other than the picture. It was sent to me quite a while back when I was thinking of building my own exhaust system. I was interested in the dual muffler - stock location concept at the time. Since the stock muffler is approx. 13.75"L x 13.50"W x 7.75"H, I was going to use two 14"L x 6"R Magnaflow stainless steel mufflers in the stock location.

I still think it looks good and would work well on the G35 Sedan.
