intake question REALLY bothering me....
I currently have an AEM CAI but it's clear the OEM and other shorter intakes performing better. I know no intake is going to make a huge difference, but I'm considering putting the stock system back on with a Z-tube and K&N filter if that's really better (especially at mid-range - call me a perfectionist).
My question is this: where the heck does the air come into the stock intake? There's no opening in the grill (it's radiator), the hood has a rubber gasket at the front, and the bottom of the airbox is sealed from the lower grills.
Anyone have some insight?

That's the set up I have and like it versus stock. I can't compare it to anything else however.
I haven't looked closely at the stock air box but believe the airflow would come through mainly from the front grill.

Plenty of air inside the engine bay
[Just depends on temp]. Besides, really, the engine is supposed to pull in what air it needs... not have air forced through it [see the 6mt cars with the CAI's that stall when going into neutral at high speeds].

Duhhh....man am I dumb. Figured it out last night. Behind the top "rungs" of the grill are ducts that direct air up to the two scoops you see when you open the hood. Pretty small openings to me.

I had the Stillen CAI, but honestly, based on it's design, I can not see it being worth much over the stock box. I would get the K&N drop in if I were you and save the $$, if you're going to make a change.
