Anyone Clean their MAF (mass air flow sensor)
Well I cleaned it, I will report back on fuel econonmy. I could tell the wire was clean after about 6 sprays it looked brand new (was a lil dark when i pulled it).
First thing I noticed Idle is much much smoother. I will report back or make a new thread.

Obviously if you use oem filters or even add an extra air filter the dirty up time interval increases................dirty elements are usually the result of aftermarket weak filter media.
Unless you live near a coal fired smelter or power plant.

Mine did not look dirty to the naked eye, after 22K original miles using mostly an Amsoil nanofiber filter. (no oil).
But I sprayed it anyway, using CRC following directions precisely. Nothing very noticeable, but maybe it helps mileage a tad.
I don't think it can hurt as periodic procedure, but it may fall into the 'if it's working leave it alone' category.
If it looks dirty, I think you better consider your air filter options. Fix the real problem, not the symptom.

I did it and noticed dirt did come off of the MAF sensor onto a paper towel, CRC made a another great product!
However I did not feel any performance gain. I did see a slight improvement in idle quality. MPG remained the same.
having a clean MAF cant hurt
. Since its not difficult I plan to clean it once a year.

The CRC stuff is "safe for all plastics." I took the entire MAF housing and sprayed the CRC cleaner in the front side, then the back side. Worked wonders for me. (No performance improvement, just peace of mind.) The throttle body cleaner helped my idle problem the most. . .but that's another thread for another day. Best of luck to ya!
its sort of hard to fubar anything if all you are doing is spraying and following the directions...make sure you clean both sides of the throttle body when you do it since its a pain to clean to begin with
