UTR or Fast Intention Resonated Test Pipe?

I have come to the conclusion that I do not want to purchase a full catback system. I do like the exhaust note that the stock can produces. Although I am interested in a little more noting. SO....

Im now left with this dilemma: UTR or Fast Intentions? Also I have been tossing up the fact of using an HFC instead, but I see that UTR offers an O2 bung so there will be no CEL codes, which I dont want to see any code whatsoever. I have heard the issue of gas smell and I do realize that over time the pipe packing will begin to deteriorate as will the HFC.

I want some concrete facts here from the guys that know their s*it. Please only comment if you either have or have had the UTR or Fast Intentions Resonated Test pipes only. Im not interested in the non-resonated pipes, that is not an avenue that I want to explore.

I'm hearing that both companies represent well, but I want to make the best purchase first so that I dont regret it.

Thanks for the help!

Just a note from me - you can PM me or call the shop and talk to Tony as well for any questions.

Our resonated testpipes have O2 bungs on them as well, and this is no way any guarantee that you will not get a cell - many and most do. To get rid of it, and make sure you don't get one, I would suggest that you get spark plug non-foulers form the start.

The fundamental difference our units have that others don't, are the 8" perforate core resonators. The sound is much smoother. the product is also warrantied for lifetime, unless you run Nitrous or extreme rich conditions that can and will cause the packing to break down.

Again, if there is anything else we can help with, feel free to ask or call Tony at the shop.

Rick

I read of UTR having a bit of raspiness from a review on this forum. I would stick with FI... I can't wait to install mine

Well heres the thing at the moment, right now I am looking to have a more refined exhaust note, while not sacrificing much torque. At the same time, I am planning of FI within the next year, as well. I would like to get something that I can continue to use with my DPs once I have them.

If you go with turbo, the kits either come with no cats or have an option for high-flow cat. Turbo kits don't use stock cat locations as far as I know since only y-pipe back exhausts will bolt onto most turbo kits. But I could be wrong... Anyway, I wouldn't waste my money on something that I would have no use for in the future. But I guess you can just sell them later.

If you go with SC, then you keep the entire exhaust. So you will keep the test pipes as well.

Youre exactly right! That's why I havent made the purchase. I don't want to buy resonated pipes that down the road wont bolt to my downpipe. Yes, I said downPIPE, because I plan on Single Turbo.
