Resonated testpipes is the easiest way without the rasp issues and adding the most performance. CATS are the safest way with a little less performance.

I'm not really looking for power gains as much as I'm looking for the right sound.

Just want to deepen my stock exhaust note and make it a tad louder.

I don't want the rasping sound either.

CATS are the way to go for my particular wants?

What CATS should I get?

HFCs also burn off excess fuel dumped down the headers. There are plenty of HFCs out there. Just do some looking around and see whats in your price range.

There is one other way. Remove the resonator from the system. That's is the first mod I did to my car 3+ years ago. It sounded OK to me, but other's have complained about rice, rasp, and etc. As I recall I had a deeper louder tone. I've had two exhausts since then, a home made dual which droned like heck, and my present Dual Invidia G200 which I luv.

One other thought, you could also replace your resonator with a smaller one (like a cherry bomb) if you don't like the sound with the stock resonator out.

Go to Google Video. Search G35, youll find a stock exhaust w/ NON-Resonated test pipes, thatll give you a feel for rasp. It sounds like an Apexi N1 on a civic.

When I tested - we got nothing but rasp when the stock resonator was pulled - it took a 22' perforated core resonator to get close to a decent sound without rasp...but not much room to do it...
