Exhaust?

Hi,

could you guys explain to me why everyone changes their stock exhausts here? Does it make the car more powerful? Please explain the benefits and the draw backs. Thanks

The aftermarket exhausts are more effecient, (in most cases), and yeild a slight bump in hp. Some are also lighter, and all will change the sound of the exhaust, mostly louder.
The downsides to some exhausts is that they can cost torque in the lower rpm range, and are pricey.
This mod is probably one of the most popular. I loved the Borla on my Coupe.

Yeah i really notice the loss in low end torque... Ur suppose to notice the high end change, but when ur rev'd out u dont really pay attention to the few extra HP... Stock my trap speed was 101, and when i change to high flow cats i got a 104... So a little change... But thats also running high flow cats and stock exhaust... I'm affraid to get exhaust because i've heard u loss even more low end torque... But thats my 2 cents...

Assuming you mean cat-back exhaust mod only...For N/A G35s it's for looks and sound. For FI it for flow=power

i dont think any exhaust sounds better than the stock..and as for looks..umm you talking bout from the rear or under the car..cause no one ever crawls under the car to look at the exhaust..and as for the power loss i know exactly how that feels..i have a custom true dual right now but im switching back to stock cause i miss the torque and the sound..i heard the stock exhaust sounds mean with intake, headers, and hfc...just my 2cents

a slight bump in hp numbers but id have to say i did it for the looks and sound (hks). Though it is pricey to me i wanted something that would scream but also not look like a coffee can

Its just for gains but mainly for looks and feel. If no one modded their exhaust think about the meets. It would be a funny sound if there was ever a cruise. Anyway, performance then looks. I have put exhaust on all my cars since my first. Just another way of making your car different than others.

I did not notice any power loss on the low end with my exhaust. And if there is any it is not very noticeable (at least not too me). Based on the fact that you have a "custom td" and not a manufactured kit this could be the reason (I'm only speculating). And my stillen exhaust looks way cooler than the stock exhaust.
