g35 coupe - catalytic converter problem

Hello, I'm from Belarus and I own a g35 coupe'03. I have a problem with the catalytic converter - the dealer told me that it was not working anymore. Here in Belarus they charge $3k to substitute it. I don't want to pay that much since I'm selling the car. Is there a cheaper solution? I had a similar problem with my BMW 740 , but the guys just removed the converter and put something else instead. But the inf. dealer keep telling me that on newer cars like g35 it is not possible anymore. Please help. Any info is appreciated. And sorry for my English - I'm not a native speaker.

it should be covered under the emissions warranty. no out of pocket expense for you!!! where is Belarus btw, cause that emissions warranty is for US.

right, please forget about the warranty. I need another solution. I need either an inexpensive cat.conv. or any other way to overcome the problem. What do tuners do when they upgrade the g35 exhaust?

If there is no warrenty and emissions are not a concern then just take the cats off and punch through them. A sort of "hi-flow poor boy" cat. All you need is a pipe that can fit inside the cat and just break out the ceramic components. At least that what I have done in the past with other cars. I suspect the same principle will work here. Any comments? Is that possible with the G cats?

It seems like it is not that easy. I did it with my bmw 740 but it is not good for cars with the lambda probe before and after the cat. it requires reprogramming of the controller, otherwise you'll have "check engine" error. I couldn't find anybody who could reprogram it in Belarus.

Highflow cats-- Buy a pair and through them on.

I beleieve Crawfords pass the sniffer test, plus you get power and a little louder exhaust note... good investment for a fraction of the price
