Side Exhausts

Is it possible to have exhausts like the vipers. Like the ones that come out the sides. Would there be any way to fit them, or would it provide some sort of performance benefit? Just wondering

no performance benifit really. You can do that to your Z/G but it takes some custom work such as making holes for the side exhuast outlet. Then you have to worry about the piping. How you are gonna bend it so the pipes can face the sides. Too many bends can cause you to loose performance.

it would be up to u. Deff. a custom job though. You will not get anymore hp or tq if thats what you are looking for. I would keep that to the domestic look and just get a custom exhaust. lots out there right now.

As long as you're going custom, you might as well just use the electronic cutouts and have the dump tubes run down the sides. You'd avoid the hot side pipes most of the time, but they would also be functional when you hit the cutouts at the track ( )

I'm not sure you're going to want to run side pipes on the street all the time anyway. Sure, the VQ sounds nice, but at either side you're mainly going to hear an angry 3-cylinder. The original Viper's side pipes didn't sound great barking out 5 cylinders each side. The newer design has a lot of creative design built into it just to make the V10 sound good through side pipes.

Consider the cut-outs with just enough of the dump tubes showing behind the front wheels to get the right look.

Why would yo do this? You would spend more money into making the exhaust look right ( fabricating the side skirts for the new pipes and fabricating the rear bumper to take away the holes for the OEM exhaust), compared to the money it would cost for the exhaust.

Because it would be the only Gc with side pipes.

Sounds like an interesting thought. I'm thinking you could run the y-pipe into a single inlet/dual outlet muffler, then route the pipes under the center of the car and pipe them out just behind the side skirts.
