^^^Why do you say that? How can they "fail"? I bought them for an upcoming track day not for the life of the car so I'm not too concerned with longevity

I mean the welds. There are countless threads on my350z of cheapo test pipes that develop cracks along the feeble welds. It might happen in 2k miles, or It may never happen.

I wasn't trying to be rude or rain on your parade. Sorry about that. I'm considering resonated test pipes too, and I passed over those because of the welds.

yeah, i see what youre saying. my theory was, i wasnt sure if i was going to like them anyway. so this way if theyre not what i want, im only out a 100 bucks or so. and if i do like them, see how long they last!

Is there a DIY anywhere for installing test pipes? I didn't see one in the DIY/FAQ forum. It's obviously pretty self explanatory but I'm just curious which bolts, if any, need to be reached from the top and pictures are always nice Plus I highly doubt the ebay pipes will come w/ instructions

I don't have any links to any DIY's, but they're a pretty simple install(time consuming, but simple). There are three studs on each cat, with two on each facing the engine compartment. I had to go through the engine compartment with multiple extensions, and a breaker bar, to break lose and retighten those 4 bolts.

Other than the extensions, it's all a matter of breaking loose the nuts on the y pipe and exhaust manifolds. Depending on mileage, you might want to swing by Autozone or some other place to pick up new gaskets. And be careful with the threads on the o2 sensors.

+1 yeah. if youve got 20k or more..(or just have woman muscles) you may want to grab some penetrating oil too.
the megan pipes come with gaskets.

most of the rattle and raspy sound will go away after a month of driving. but you will still get a little rasp around 2500 rpm. i have stock exhaust and it def sounds different from a stock sedan.

Are you on my350z.com? If not, I highly suggest your register. Much better technical information over there, and way more people with various product experience.
