looking for a simple inexpensive change....has anyone messed with the stock resonator, and im not talking about removing it completely....i was thinking more along the lines of putting a magnaflow resonator on a stock system+headers...im leaning towards magnaflow because ive seen a lot of other full systems using these...input it greatly appreciated

 

I don't know what it'll do the stock exhaust, but in my case I put the maganflow resonator on the magnaflow exhaust system after the droning got unbearable. The droning is gone now but so is the nice sound it originally had. It really quieted down the exhuast note and it's actually quieter than stock now. That's why I ordered the Fast Intentions system. I think putting the maganflow resonator on the stock exhaust will ruin the stock sound. Hope this helps.

any other resonator brands out there besides magnaflow taht someone might know about

 

I had a no brand resonator (about 3-4" diameter) installed on my exhaust yesterday. I have headers and HFCs, stock catback. I had a pretty nasty rasp, IMO, that I hoped the resonator would fix. I did not remove the stock resonator, either.

The rasp goes away after a few minutes of driving, but the car is quieter stock now.

I'm going to consult with my exhaust guys and do something about it this weekend. Perhaps custom true dual w/ x-pipe and dual resonators. We'll see.
