the oval piece in the center of the exhuast after the downpipe ypipe but before the muffler....is the cat? and if I were to remove it will it make it louder? or is that a resonator that most cars have to restrict flow and resonate the sound like on maximas???

I believe that is the cat converter. if you remove it, the exhaust tone will get louder BUT it will NOT pass inspection. happened to me on my civic.

Cool

....there are 2 cats ...before the Y pipe.

That IS the center resonator. And, it will make it raspy and sound like crap to remove it.
