Visual would be a crap shoot. IMO, they look enough like a stock cat on some vehicles, that the inspector might get fooled into thinking they were OK. The stock cats on my 2006 GMC Sierra are actually smaller than the Crawfords.

^ i believe most hfc rattle, thats why you gotta get an engine dampner...

the older crawfords were know to rip and tear where the brackets are (under the cats) and i believe an engine dampner will help with that also

I have Crawford and no, it doesn't rattle .... how do they do inspection in NYC? didn't they just test the *** from your exhaust (that's what they do in Cali)? It should pass if that's the case (hfc still has the catalytic).

In cali i heard you get caught with visual and sniff....but if you know your mechanic then its all okay...i hope...But the guys at FI told me that it wont pass visual cause it will stick out like a sore thumb...and instead of 4 cats there are only 2 cats with the HFC's i dont know where to go about with that one though.

Ya, I'll say depending on your autoshop .... I didn't go to dealer though... I went to a mexican autoshop and he would do anything to make you pass (at least in my area --ole day)

High flow cats are not packed with stranded materials. They are honeycomb shapes mazes that are designed to heat the exhaust to an extreme point to burn off gasses and clean the exhaust.

They are made of ceramic cores or metallic cores, and the metallic cores are rolled, but still in a honeycomb shape/pattern.

Maybe yes and maybe no...every car is different and so are the mods we all do on them. The best chance you have at passing a sniff test is with Ceramic 400 cell CATS.

Just save your CATS and swap them in for the test and back out again...
