I heard from the Nissan dealership that the Nismo CAI when installed, will not pass smog. Is this true? Any who actually own this intake or know of someone who has this, is this true? Please confirm. Thanks!

 

no this is not true. i have a nismo CAI and it passed here in missouri. It should pass

 

just get it. if youre THAT worried then swap it out for oem when you go for smog

 

My roommate is a SMOG tech here in CA, he told me that if non-factory parts are on a car, it will fail based upon the "visual" portion of the test, regardless of what it blows. If the tech is friendly, he may look past it, but with the cost of a smog test in CA and nobody doing no pass/no pay, I would swap it out for the stock intake for the test. A z-tube should pass fine, as it looks factory and only a G35 enthusiast would be able to tell the difference.

Can stillen's set up pass visual because stillen's intake looks pretty stock.

an intake doesn't affect emissions at all, it has to do with the carb legality. so yes it's smog legal, no it's not carb approved.

 

The Clean Air Act [smog] is a Federal Requirement enforced by STATES. Any STATE can enact laws that are more stringent.

 

Just go with a JWT Popcharger and OEM Z tube. JWT is 50 State Emissions legal and the Z Tube is a factory NISSAN part. You shouldnt run into any issues with this setup.

 

I would call Stillen and ask to be sure. Mine didn't come with a CARB sticker but the SC did.

 

any car can pass smog here in los angeles as long as you're willing to pay more or know someone that works at a smog place...there are so many smelly,

smoking cars i see driving around and the cops don't do anything about it...
