Exhaust?

I was wondering if i could just get a muffler and keep the stock tubing or buy a full cat-back exhaust? Would the stock tubing end up fitting aftermarket mufflers or is there welding to be done?

the greddy sp2 is just a muffler. works fine.

whats the diameter of the stock piping? is it less than 2 1/4?
