Yes, I am doing it in a day or two once I get it in the mail. Thanks for the pics they are just in time. I was wondering how you pop those plugs that hold the bumber cover on? Looks like a really easy off and on if I knew how to get those plugs off.

Re: Injen Cold Air Intake Review + Install!

Don't drop the bumper. All you have to do is pull the left front tire and pull out the front inner half of the plastic fender liner. Allot easier and gets the job done just fine. If I had no other choice than to have to remove the front bumper I would have sent the intake back.

I appluade seeing the plastic part was kept in place in front of the filter in this installation. But I don't think its a good idea to compleatly remove the foam block. I kept my plastic part in place and I sliced a section of the foam block off. Netting me a 5x7 sized opening to suppy the wheel well with plenty of air and Zero chance of wind driven rain hitting the filter.

Re: Injen Cold Air Intake Review + Install!

cool ride bro, and great tutorial, but I'm inclined to agree with GSedan35: that part of the foam block should be left intact.(from what I've heard). Thanks for taking the time to remove the bumper. It sounds like you can do the job without, but doing so makes the job and pics easier. thanks.

Re: Injen Cold Air Intake Review + Install!

Jason,

A great job on how to install an Injen CAI. Excellent pictures.

In one of your pictures I noticed a small heat exchanger mounted on the lower middle section of your radiator core support. What purpose does it serve?

Thanks,

DaveO

which is better the RD1990 or the RD1992, i have an automatic sedan, i know it says 1990 for automatic and 1992 for manual, i was just wondering if the 1992 has any advantages over the 1990

Re: Injen Cold Air Intake Review + Install!

I would recommend getting what Injen has designed for your vehicle. They take a lot of time in dyno'ing each intake and tuning it to perform well with each make and model.

DaveO, thanks for the kind words. Can you point out which picture you're referring to? (And which object of question?) I'm a little unclear to what you're asking about

SilverG35C,

Here's the heat exchanger I was asking about. Do you or anyone else know what it's for? Is it a stock component?

Thanks in advance,

DaveO

Re: Injen Cold Air Intake Review + Install!

Installed mine on Monday. It's amazing, took off tire and inner plastic wheel well, not bumper...had no problems except ripped foam when taking it out.

Problem, however.....I was driving on the highway and I started to slow down going into a toll about 150ft away, dropped it in nuetral and the car shut off!?!?!?! I only noticed because of the power steering loss. Any ideas to the problem? Only time it's happened since Monday.

Re: Injen Cold Air Intake Review + Install!

SilverG35C,

Finally found out what it was from the shop manual. It's a power steering fluid cooler. Coupes and 350Zs have one, the Sedan doesn't.

Those who autocross their Sedan might want to take note.

Sounds to me like you were in too high of a gear and it stalled. As for my Injen CAI, I am still waiting very patiently by the mailbox. Well not really but trying to anyway.

And I think I've seen you yesterday or the day before yesterday. Driving at Kuhio Ave, around Jack in the box. )

I'm pretty sure it was you, it was an AT and SKYLINE 350GT emblems, with stock 18's on. Nice ride.
