Well for that matter (IMO), no point getting rid of your stock cats (for 10 hp), if you must pass a visual inspection every year.

CARB legal not the issue - FI HFC's are CARB approved cats - but you would need OBDII approved CATS - and there are none, other than the ones on your car to begin with.

Obd-ii

I'll probably just swap them out if/when I fail the test in MD. Does anyone know the thresholds for each contaminant in the exhaust, or where I can find this info? I've been unsuccessful at locating this info on the EPA or MD VEIP web sites. If I knew this data I imagine I could check the ODB-II interface to see if I'm within limits for my next test (my buddy just got an interface to the OBD-II port).

I figured MD thresholds are probably different than CA, etc...but if anyone can point me the right direction that would be great.

Thanks,
Brian

My understanding (if it passes CARB) is that the emissions are NOT the issue.

It is illegal to have aftermarket cats of any kind prior to 80k miles unless replaced due to damage (that's what I'll try to claim!) and even then I think you're supposed to put OEM on there. SO it's a visual inspection that you'd fail (if an inspector can distinguish OEM vs aftermarket).

How bout this.............

I'm not aware of Washingtons rules about what you
can or can't get away with. I'd buy which ever cats
will allow you to pass smog......if that's not an issue
get test pipes, f^ck the smog police!
