#1 Intake?

Hey guys, im looking to buy a CAI system and was wondering which one to buy... also if I should get the short ram or the full one... which is better? I heard that the true CAI can get water up in them fairly easy and may mess up the motor... Theres just so many out there to choose from... Ohh and which one sounds the best!!! Thanks alot guys, Peace!

Best for performance, your better off on other mods.
Sound wise I like stillen the most.
Realistically wise just get a JWD pop charger with Ztube sounds like all the rest, probably cheaper then the rest, and its shortram so you wont have to deal with the whole hydrolock issue.

I will be very honest with you. I had the exact same questions before I bought my CAI. I was terrified of making the wrong choice. Well, first of all, the only water can be sucked into the engine is if you submerge the filter, which is almost impossible, unless you drive through a VERY deep puddle of water. Go to my cardomain webpage http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2378784 and see the pictures of my CAI. You will see exactly where the filter sits, and then I want you to ask yourself: "When was the last time I drove through a puddle of water that could have reached the filter??" The filter sits way too high!!!!
Now, answering your question about the brand. I say INJEN, K&N or AEM. The reason why I chose the K&N was because of their high reputation with AIR FILTERS. However, I learned that INJEN uses a K&N filter. Anyway, you can't go wrong with any of these brands. I would get Injen or K&N. I don't know... I kind of don't like AEM.

I beg to differ. Injen and the rest will all suck up water and it doesn't have to be completely submerge. Water can splash into the intake and it can suck it right into the engine. I've seen motors hydrolock with as little as 2 inches of water. One thing about the VQ motor is that it generates a lot of heat. JWT is very expose it will suck all the heat in the engine bay when at full stop. That is the most critical part of the intake is when going from a stand still. Stillen is the best short ram CAI you can get. The heat shield is sufficient enough to protect the intake from heat and no worries about hydrolocking. In fact if you cover the z-tube with thermal wrap it will cool the intake by as much as 40 degrees. The Stillen might be a bit pricey but I think it's worth the money. Goodluck with your choice.

Hey bro get the stillen with Ztube. Hands down one of the better intakes, I like the heat shield.

If you want the best combo get the Popcharger filter with stillen Heat box with Z tube.

all based on preference..........not going to gain any power, so you might as well go for sound.......in that case injen all the way

this has to be one of the most useless questions ever. there are so many intakes available for our car and so many people have different intakes that you will get a very wiiiiiiide range of opinions. having that said, the stillen, pop charger, and k&n drop in (in no particular order) are probably by far the most popular intakes on the forum

injen cai or z-tube/pop charger is what i'd go for. anyone have a audio/video clip of an INJEN CAI?

I found this on youtube. pop charger w/ z-tube (atleast, thats what the title says)

it sounds like an airplane. basically, which sounds better to you guys, Injen or z-tube/pc? a lot of members are saying that since the stock intake is already a great intake and that's why upgrading our intakes is pretty much for sound/look upgrade.
