I'm ready to make a header purchase and have heard good things about Crawford and Nismo. So I'm kind of torn between the two.
What do you guys think of Nismo headers vs. Crawford? If the Crawford's cost so much to install, wouldn't the Nismos be about the same price, if not less? The reason I'm more hesitant about the Crawfords because I've heard their cats have cracked in the past...just worried about workmanship/reliability issues.

+1 ^ The Strup and Alphawerks produce excellent midrange gains for about 1/2 the price of the Crawford or Nismo. Also, very well constructed. Next step down are the DC Sports, Ichiba (DC sports Chinese copy) etc. I have had the Ichiba for 5 months and no problems at all. 5 RWHP gain. But that was on top of all my other mods. On a bone stock setup, probably would be more of a gain.
Whatever you do, make sure they are stainless and then get them ceramic coated for even heating, better gas velocity, and further corrosion resistance. Well worth the extra $150.

From what I've read, the Strup headers don't have the "collector" that everybody's said is important for efficiently scavenging/funneling the exhaust out of the engine. So my next question would be, just how important are the "collectors" found on the Nismo and Crawford exhausts?
Also, I plan on going FI next year. Will the Strups hold up just as well as the Nismo headers in an S/C or turbo engine?
Thanks,
Brian

At this point it's Nismo vs. Strup. I have ruled out Crawford as an option. Let's leave cost out of the discussion too. I'm aware well aware of how much more the Nismo headers cost compared to the Strups.
What I'm trying to figure out is:
1. How much power am I losing because the Strups don't have the exhaust "collectors" that the Nismos sport?
2. Will either header (Strup or Nismo) work as reliably and efficiently on FI systems?
Thanks,
B

If you're going FI, then do it right and get the APS TT setup. Then you can save the $1000+ for headers and install since the kit comes with new exhaust manifolds anyway. Take that $1000 and use it for the 3" APS exhaust to minimize backpressure. Probably get a discount if you buy both the kit and exhaust.
