i have a g35 sedan and iam buying a mid pipe from a coupe and i heard some people talking about a y pipe is that the same pipe? and what other exhaust parts will work to make my sedan better

 

The y pipe is different than a midpipe. They do bolt up together in your sedan but are two different parts. The mid pipe is a mod for sound than any power increase. The y pipes I have seen are more for sound as well but provide some power increase. If you have an 05/06 G35 then I have been told it is a waste to buy a coupe midpipe since the 05/06 midpipes use a smaller resonator and have better sound stock than previous years.

 

y pipe connects your cats to your midpipe. since you have two (actually, 4) cats, the ypipe is used to make it one pipe again. the midpipe goes in the middle, between the y pipe and rear section (muffler)

 

so if i got a coupe y pipe i should get some sound difference and power? would my 03 sedan sound more lke the coupe?

 

just get an aftermarket exhaust, i dont see the point because the gains will be nothing noticeable

 

no it wouldnt. if you plan on getting a y pipe you should also get an exhaust also cause it makes more sense. if not just get a coupe midpipe
