Blitz intake filter

As we speak, SP engineering are shipping my Blitz Intake to me ;-) Should be here in 2-3 days. Man, I had to wait a long time for it to get here, it had to be ordered from Japan, but I'm stoked ..... I'll let you all know the process of installation and how the performance increases after I've put it on.

Later,
Colin

Re: Blitz intake filter

When adding on the air filter only, there will be torque gains throughout the rpm range, infact the torque is available at much lower RPM which should reduce some of the takeoff lag that is being experienced . Only when adding a muffler will there be torque losses.

Re: Blitz intake filter

Well, it's on and sounds fantastic, installation took about 45 minutes (couldn't figure out how to remove the old filter box ;-()

Took it for a little drive, torque is definately improved from 3k up, and the sound as we soar towards the red line is simply breath taking ...

Have a look at the installation process on my rides page ..

Re: Blitz intake filter

$260, it is a special order from Japan, and the installation instructions are all in Japanese (luckily my wife is from Japan).

Re: Blitz intake filter

Looks nice, but looks like a custom job is do-able as well. Probably won't get the performance numbers though. Did you disconnect the battery then re-connect it, so that the ECU resets and knows you have a performance mod? This eliminates the chance of seeing the Engine light on if it detects errors.

Re: Blitz intake filter

No I did not, should I do this, I've heard of possible problems with the engine disabling itself because of security measures. Hmm, I'll have a look at this tomorrow maybe.

Re: Blitz intake filter

Well, it was recommended on some Honda forums and my previous J-Body (Cavalier/Sunfire) forum. This is a far better car so I don't know what will happen, but then again it's just disconnecting the battery so there shouldn't be any problems. When you re-connect the battery, start your car and leave it on idle for about 5mins so that the ECU fully re-programs. Ask a real mechanic for more info/advice before you do it just in case.

Re: Blitz intake filter

Ok, will do. Although I don't really want to phone up infiniti service for advice as they'll probably bitch about me adding aftermarket parts :-) .
