want to keep stock ex' sound

i want to upgrade my muffler but i dont want to lose the stock sound. stock sounds good, nice rumble no ricey whine at all. do you guys happen to know if the stock muffler is restrictive? i know there will always be some but im thinking of just going with hfc's and y-pipe with stock muffler. but if you guys have noticed mad hp gains when swapping out the stock muffler i may have to go that route. just want to weigh my options. anyone else in love with the stock exhaust note but wants more performance?

Hi,
I like the stock tone also. I'm planning on Strup Headers w/ FI HFC Metallic and stock exhaust portion. From the forum searching I've done here it seems to work well for other G owners.

Yeah I feel the same way I've seen up to 20 HP gains with exhaust that dont really sound at all like the original so I'm torn.

Anything you do with the exhaust will change the sound even with just hfc. But if you want to upgrade your exhaust, I'd say the nismo. I saw one installed in a 350z and the tone is almost identical to the stock, only louder.

I have the Fuji on my car and I did not like the sound so I cut off the stock tips and had them welded onto the Fuji exhaust. I hate drone in the car which is what I was getting, I also have Crawford HF cats.

I have Stillen true dual exhaust and it really sounds AWESOME!! It sounds like stock, but louder and deeper!! Yes, you will definitely hear the difference in sound if you go with Stillen!!!
Believe me, it's a great exhaust!!! The ONLY thing I don't like about it is the looks!!!! It looks very close to the stock exhaust! But, performance wise??? It's one of the best out there as far as I know!
HKS looks A LOT cooler than the Stillen. However, I don't like the way it sounds! Anyway, good luck man!
