Question Do I Need High Flow Cats?

Guys,

I am just looking for some opinions before I go ahead and order these crawford cats. They just got a new shipment in (website says out of stock...FYI) So I am about to hop on a pair of these.

First question: Do I need a tune if I combine these cats with an aftermarket exhaust set up? I am currently running the Stillen True Dual.

Second question: Is it worth the $500 for any type of performance gain if I intend on staying N.A. for at least a year?

Third question: How much louder will this get? I am quite satisfied with the tone/sound/performance gains of my Stillen.

Finally, I am running the K&N drop in filter, Z-Tube, 5/16" spacer, and the cat-back.

Am I pouring perfume on a pig, or will I see real world performance gain out of this set-up?

Thanks alot for all your replies.

Don

as with any mod, to optimize gains, yes youll need a tune. but if youre not done modding, then just wait til youre done to get a tune to get the most of everything. if you tune now and mod more later it wouldnt be cost effective since youd need another tune later.

high flow cats are definitely a worthy mod.

dont know the effects on stillen but HFCs really opened up my HKS and they have really opened up other peoples exhausts as well.

youll never see a huge difference with n/a mods unless youre crazy like rick.

I would second this . I have kinetix HFC's but no real difference from crawford. Just different brand.

I think it depends on what's legal in your State. I don't think any high flow cats are CARB legal. I think the Crawford cats (and maybe others) will pass a sniffer test when they are fairly new.

Does anyone with these cats actually have dyno proof they are worth it?

I like my butt dyno, but it's used to feeling REAL gains.....$500 is some decent coin for a few ponies, but if it would not kill my low end and give me top end power, I am all for it....
