Re: ztube + stillen = feel power?
G35MadMan,
There's also posts out there that say Injen's CAI loses power. Check out my350Z for the latest info. Long ram systems are said to lose torque in order to gain top end horsepower. Is it true? I have reason to believe so in some applications.
All (most) CAI's increase the air flow delivered through the MAF sensor to the throttlebody to the engine. If the ECU doesn't (can't) add additional fuel, then the engine will run lean and lose power. However, if the ECU's fuel maps can keep up, the engine usually makes additional power.
We know the 350Z's air intake system is more efficient than the G35's. The the recent dyno results and demand for Z air ducts offer some proof. JWT's 350Z Pop Charger has been dynoed on several times and consistantly shown power gains in the 5 to 7 hp range. Why talk about this Z system?
Well, let's do a little comparision. Jim Wolf's Popcharger consists of a large blue air filter, a heat shield, and a velocity ring (venturi). Stillen's G35 CAI consists of a large red air filter, a heat shield, and a velocity ring.
Do velocity rings increase air flow? They indeed do! (A proven theory.) Just ask Danny at TechnoSquare how much air flow the JWT/Stillen velocity ring adds... he tested it on his air flow bench.
I maintain both these systems are essentially the same. Both claim similar power increases. Stillen claims 5hp for the Coupe and 11hp for the Sedan. Jim Wolf claims over 4hp for Nissan NA engines --

After reading and hearing many positive claims and negative comments on CAI's, I ended up spending my money on the CAI I thought was best for my purposes.

Re: ztube + stillen = feel power?
Just recently I raced another g35c Auto like mine, except i have a groundink kit, z-tube, and stillen intake.....and he was stock!
We raced in pure auto mode, no manumatic bs.
I was pulling on him the entire way up to 70mph.
It was like racing an acura...
I love this combo, And living in miami, no hydrolock for me, or debris issues! I'll stick with this WINNING combo... haha
My 2 cents..
Peace

Re: ztube + stillen = feel power?
ok ok, so coming back to the intake questions:
if i get the stillen and ztube or watevers, by itself, i will lose hp. but if i retune my ecu to even out the A/F mixture, i will be gaining hp. is this correct? does anyone want to test it? damn intakes are expensive man!.

Hi Ted still haven't had a chance to fit up the strut bar flanges but will hopefully have time in the near future after the headers get into full production

Re: Crawford Tower Strut for Sedan
I installed the Z tube and stillen togther and I must say that I did feel more power, not much but definatelly something, and the engine was a bit louder too. The sound of the stillen is priceless IMHO. And no I dont need to justyfy my purchases I made a bunch of bad ones, this one is a great combo.
