Hey guys, Im going to buy a hydro sleeve for my injen cai just to make sure my car doesnt get messed up in the rain..
Im looking at purchasing the product through this company--
http://store.racinglab.com/inhypr.html
my question is which one should I get
I have the RD1990p Injen Cai... ive been looking and cant seem to distinguish which one is the right one for me
then again...does it even matter which one, is it a slight difference that would not matter?
well thanks in advance guys

ummmmm AEM has had a bypass valve for their CAI's for something like 4 years now which works much better. They demostrated it at SEMA by submerging the intake completely in a fish tank and showing how their demo car can still run perfectly.

you can get the bypass valve from AEM, but it sits higher on on intake. Your CAI will need to be in 2 pieces instead of 1 to use it.

yeah so you cut a smaller section out. Of course it sits higher on the intake. If it sat lower and was succeptible to water getting on it there would be no point of having it. You can purchase the AEM intakes with the bypass valve already on it.Originally Posted by yakkolio

Thats not really a "Bypass Valve" like AEM's...
Its more for keeping mudd / gunk off the filter...
K&N makes these as well and has for a while...

I dont think AEM makes a bypass valve in 3 inches which is what the Injen pipe is I think the largest they sell is 2.5 or 2.75 I was going to buy a piece of aluminum pipe and cut the ijen pipe & use a reducer fitting between the ijen and the pipe on both ends and stick the aem valve in the middle

u guys do know that the bypass valve increases intake temp considerably... im not sure if its the exact case for the G, but i do know it does increase intake temps

I had got the AEM bypass valve but when I recieved it and put it on I noticed there was a metal ring/spring inside the whole assembly and it has some plastic pieces that I could just imagine braking off and going into my intake and messing up my intake valves
this worried me so much that I ended up taking it off the very next day and boxing it back up and shipping it back to the 3rd party vendor I got it from (with a nice lose of 25% restoke fee) which I gladly payed for the peace of mind of not having this thing on my car
I currently have one of these "socks" over my filter (plus I cut 4 in off the end of my INjen CAI) and am very happy with it

reminds me of a condom. but instead of keeping things in it keeps things out

Why run a CAI at all? With the 0.002323u2323212 hp gain (if that), you guys really seem to take alot of risk.
