I had the FI exhaust installed a few weeks ago and I've become another FI cheerleader. I'm not a techie or gearhead, all I wanted was a "meaner" sound and maybe a few extra hp. I feel that I have two different cars depending on how I drive my AT. I'm still stock (looking at the z tube and k&n box now..lol) except for the FI catback.

It's not that it's ricey (still has deep, even tone) but at light throttle there is a drone that you feel as much as hear inside the car; but this has gotten better over the last 100 miles, so will give you the final word soon. If you let off the throttle, the drone goes completely away. If you get on the throttle, the drone goes away. It's only there if you hold steady at say 10-20% throttle while the car is under a load (so not just parked or in neutral). This is only bothersome for me at lower rpms because the sound is deeper at lower rpms and more "penetrating" (kind of like a subwoofer).

If I leave it in auto, the sound is very low and growly. I have 600+ miles on the exhaust now and the initial "drone" is gone. I second the subwoofer thought and throttle/rumble connection. With my foot off the gas, it seems quieter than stock. I can roll into my neighborhood at odd hours without making a lot of noise. Driving around town or on the highway it's definitely a deeper and meaner sound. Just turning on the car gets second looks.

If I take it out of auto, the personality changes. The sound becomes a lot more exotic without a ricey tone. The car loses the growly idle and becomes more "pipey"(?) with a sound that's lower than stock. I don't get the "rumble" as much driving this way. Like g05c said, I think the MT's guys wouldn't have the sub/rumble sound. It's a head turner this way also and the speed is effortless. I don't have any sound insulation and using my cell or bluetooth is the same as before.

If you're looking for flash, this isn't the exhaust for you. I was looking for stealth sound with performance. Unless you know what to look for, you wouldn't know there's anything done. I get comments when I turn the car on or at stoplights.
