Xerd headers is the way to go!
Re: Xerd headers is the way to go!
A...correct me if I am wrong guys, but the TS ECU does not get altered by the system's learning algo's. Once flashed, it stays flash with no more learning curves.

Re: Xerd headers is the way to go!
My eyes hurt... Are you happy now? :-)
I just reread Cheston's [lengthy] detailed write-up about the TS ECU program flash, and I saw where the flashed program will *reduce* the feedback loop values, i.e., the feedback loop is not eliminated. Cheston said there are various and sundry safety parameters involved, e.g., timing regulation & pinging prevention, that mandate the feedback loop remain at least somewhat active.
Just the thought of adding parts that should provide 40-HP+, but produce a measily 14-HP on a motor held in check by an ****-retentive ECU, makes my skin crawl. At least the car would *sound* more powerful!
I think I'll stick to traction and cornering improvements for now, but I am power-hungry... Please tell me I'm wrong!

Sometimes, yes the things people say can get to you and look like that poster has ill intent. Keep in mind that your responce needs to be held in check, don't let your emotions carry your own reply to the point were your a greater offender, just for the sake of getting in your own quick one two jab. Offended?, show yourself the better man and don't escalate things. It's better for all of us that way. Funny, I knew in advance, given the thread topic that things might go bad, something I don't like being right about. Peace to all

Dang straight, it's all about the glory of helping. Who have you helped today?

We use the XERD long tube headers on our 350Z we race in the Grand Am Cup series.

Dwnshift... Yea you use the xerd because they came out first. Have you thought about using or trying the Crawfords? I realy interested in these with some test pipes..

Re: Xerd headers is the way to go!
I'd love to post pics, however the project cars are not finished and I'm not able to divulge anymore information than I already have...I can tell you that the directions for the rides have changed, and I may be switching to Cobra seats...I recommend going to a shop that has seats on display and spending time sitting in them and adjusting them...The support is amazing on most models but can be a little off-putting at first

Re: Xerd headers is the way to go!
It is very simply why the Xerds are better, they are LONG-TUBE Headers. The others are all shorty headers. The longer the tube, the more the torque plus shallower bends for more top end HP. Unless they mess up badly on the flange aligments or welds, there is no way a shorty can keep up. Long-tubes will always make more power over shortys. This is simply physics by gas and pressure laws. Look at the number of tight bends on the Crawfords to make them equal length headers. The Xerds because of the longer tubes have a lot less bending necessary to keep the tubes equal length and reach the collector. Despite the bends, the equal lengths will out flow an unequal of the same tubing size by separating the exhaust pulses. Exhaust pulse collision is a higher restriction than a bend. Every bend is still a restriction that will create backpressure. This is why the Crawfords should be better than the Borlas, but not as good as Xerds. This isn't anything new. The dyno comparison tests for the different types of headers have been well proven on Mustangs 10 year ago.
There is an added advantage to the Xerds that they remove the cats and the cats are the single biggest restriction in the exhaust. Just getting a set of headers without hi-flow cats or straight tubes really defeats the purpose and the gains. It is like you are drinking a milkshake slowly by sucking it through a straw. You want to drink more, but the straw is too small. They make just the very bottom of the straw larger in diameter. The restriction in the rest of the straw is still there and you can't suck anymore through it. A lot of people don't like removing emissions equipment. There are no problems with that, but you have to realize to get the best power out of our cars that there is where a change has to be made.
