Crawford Plenum/ECU
Crawford Plenum/ECU
I was reading some posts at Fresh alloy stating that the Crawford Plenum won't see the potential gains unless you have the ECU reflashed to go with it. Does anyone know the about the validity of this stament? They also mentioned running lean in the upper rpm's. I want to get a plenum, but words like lean aren't what I want to hear since I'm running nitrous.
Re: Crawford Plenum/ECU
If I recall that same poster either goes on to retest in that same thread or creates a different on where he re-dyno'd and showed gains. Sounds like what your talking about. In any event. I have the pleneum and it does exactly that crawford says it does. I have never dyno'd my car, but I can feel a definate difference that lets me say the mod is worth every penny I paid and has never ever mad me question it's worth. It gives you 9hp at the usual power peak and goes on to reduce the amount of power drop off as you rev to redline, netting you a 20hp gain at redline. Their are a ton of post all over the various forums from owners that have basically say it just like I am.

Re: Crawford Plenum/ECU
I have increased midrange and the run up to redline has greater urge with less of a falling off. Just like hp gains I mentioned above, 9 more hp at the usual peak and 20 more hp at redline.
The install is super easy. I didn't know that I was supposed to go online and down load directions and mine did not come with any. So, I just popped the hood and asked myself, how does this thing go on. All I did was just unbolt the stock pleneun and the throttle body then the coolant lines that run into it and pulled it off the motor, real easy, just common sense stuff. Goes back on the same way. Do read the instructions on how to mount the bolts in the center however, I admitidly remembered reading a post on how to do it, otherwise I might have been lost at that point.
Somewhere around here I did a thread about installing the engine cover with it and how I fashioned a spacer to hide the gap between the cover and the rubber oil fill cap collar when you install the cover with the crawford pleneum.
