exhaust questions

Hey Guys
I was wondering which exhaust makes the g35 sound more like a v-8 and not like a rice rocket. I had a 300zx with a greddy evo exhaust and it made it sound like a mustang. I was driving my friends stang the other day and i missed that sound. how does the borla or stillen exhaust sound? i know the greddy evo is coming out for the g35c if it hasnt already. does any1 have this? thanks for any 411 u can give me!

Re: exhaust questions

I installed the Stillen sedan exhaust and it simply rocks. If the deep, powerful V8 sound is what you want, the stillen will do it. Perfect fit and very noticeable torque gain. No way will you be disappointed. $950 is some coin, but it will last forever and makes the car much more fun. You WILL hear the exhaust in the car all the time under load. It will no longer be a near-luxury car, it will sound like a sports car, so be warned. Not raspy or harsh, but it will cause you to turn the radio up more than you are used to. OK with me.

Re: exhaust questions

Yeah, I think that flow master is good. :-)
But there's this 350z TT that has a great exhaust. I think it was the Greddy. It sounded pretty good.

Re: exhaust questions

Interesting product. Do you have one, or know someone that does on G. So these are not as aggressive sounding, but is this at the cost of performance? I wonder how it compares with the Stillen? Perhaps a combo of Stillen Exhaust with Flowmaster muffler? Wonder if that will work...

Re: exhaust questions

the new borla dual exh. sys. was installed on my sedan
12/10/03. one of the first in the usa. totally happy sounds
great, butt dyno says with the k&n typhoon add 20+hp .
it does not sound like a 4bangger with a $400.oo glass pack.
it is quieter than i had expected, but the combo really lets
you know "it ain't your mothers G35". i got both incl.tax,
freight, exh. installed,(i did the typhoon in 45min.) for
$950 to $975.oo hear in dallas. my choice was and is borla.
give them a look. pic's on the fourm later to day.
happy holiday's,

Re: exhaust questions

i have Borla's coupe exhaust, at the price i got it for, it was a steal, because i was one of the first ones to get it....
I really love the sound, keep in mind that it is quiet down low (thats a good thing), but it comes alive at 2,500 and starts to sound exotic at 4,000 to redline -- it just sounds so beautiful and exotic, how else can i explain it!
i've seen only 1 dyno done and it said 8hp and 3lb-ft of torque for the coupe

Re: exhaust questions

I am running Borla headers and dual catback exhaust, with Random Technology high flow cats, for an ATI supercharged engine.
The Borla headers and catbacks made relatively little sound change, perhaps a little deeper than stock, but that is about all.
Putting on the RT cats made a big difference in hp and sound, effectively "releasing" on the FI engine the hp. The low down "growl" of the headers comes out now under load, and the tone is smooth and deep. Not at all noxious, but rich and mellow. While it does not irritate, it definitely causes one outside the car to immediately recognize that something wicked this way comes.
