It is recommended for forced induction due to its durability. But that doesnt mean its for forced induction only.

The difference isnt anything huge, but for 40 more, I'd get the 300. That's the route im going, and im staying NA for atleast 3 to 4 years more.

From fastintentions.com:

400 Cell Ceramic
An upgraded version of the O.E.M. cat, using a honeycomb style brick, which will clean and perform well with being slightly louder then a stock cat.

300Cell Metallic*
A metallic foil wrapped and heat treated for maximum durability. This cat will clean the best out of the two as well as produce greater performance. The sound will be slightly louder then the ceramic counterpart.

*Recommended for forced inducted applications

(400)Stainless Steel Ceramic $600 SHIPPED

(400)Polished Stainless Steel Ceramic $629 SHIPPED

(300)Stainless Steel Metallic $640 SHIPPED

(300)Polished Stainless Steel Metallic $669 SHIPPED

Hope that helps.

Well, cats definately improve the sound. But more importantly, it frees the flow of exhaust, unlike the stock cats that are very restrictive. More flow= more power.

But yeah, I agree, 600 for cats is alot. But it seems as if everything is too damn expensive for our cars.

They had killer deals in the last huge group buy though.

Ya, Id have to agree with Skater on that one. Get the 300's rather than the 400's. I regret not getting the 300s now but its hardly worth spending the money(again) and effort on the 300s and selling my 400s plus the hassle of un-installing and reinstalling the new cats. So for now, Im stuck with 400s until I decide to get TP's if I ever go down that road.

FI + 300cell Metallics/TP is the best way to go IMO. While the cats may be expensive, theyre worth it as the gains and the sound are incredible. I was smiling ear to ear when I left the FI shop after having my cats installed

EDIT: BTW, I will try and get some new video clips of my car including drive-by's at WOT and easy driving, in-car WOT and easy driving, and another revving clip. Im shooting for thursday morning or friday morning/afternoon. No promises tho

Well, I have not seen any mod out there that gives such good mid-end gains as an Mrev2 combined with a spacer.

But really, you need to get both.

As for me, I already have a 5/16 spacer lying on my garage. Holding off on the install until I get the Mrev2. After that, its the 300 HFC. Exhaust will follow the HFC... then ECU reflash + pulley... etc etc

You really have to work your way up the latter.

High flow cats are a must in my list.

My experience with HFC is that it makes the exhaust sound a bit raspy though, a little too much more high pitched than it should.

HFC should not make any rasp whatsoever. If any, nothing significant.

If the exhaust is raspy to start with, then ofcourse it will be raspy. But with an exhaust like FI, it will only strengthen and deepen its tone. Should sound louder.

Test pipes in the other hand, rasp like crazy.
