Installing my DC headers was easy!...

NOT!!!... problems: Basically, hoses are a bitch to unclip. Practically no room to work in the engine. Broke 2 nuts/bolts combo on drivers side connecting the Random Tech cat and stock header (dealer installed cats and overtorqued the driver's side in my opinion). Lots of coolant spilled even w/ proper pan. Most of the nuts connecting the header and engine came off w/ the studs. So far uninstall time is proximately 6hrs! Started at 4pm... stopped at 12am. Yes if u do the math, that's 8hrs but I had lots of smoke and eating breaks that totalled about 2 hrs.

I'm halfway done. Gonna go at it again in the morning. Hopefully I can finish by 12pm. This would be the additional 4hrs of re-installing everything. I'll see what's up. Gonna have to replace those bolts/nuts that we're broken. The dealer should have them right? Hopefully!!! If not, then I'll have to look at shops all over the place. This install better be worth it.

My background w/ DIY: I have fixed up most of the cars I owned. Including installing audio, bolt on stuff that will make my car fast, respond better on turns and stop. I have also fixed up my bikes. But the G is the only one that has kicked my @ss! Although I am ranting at this hour, I still love my car! Just thought I would share w/ all of u.
Oh and yes I do have help. It's just taking us longer than expected.

Man you got alot of guts my friend. So far I have done every mods on the car myself. But putting headers on this car is something I have to think again before doing it.

You are one brave man, hope everythings go well for you. Let's know how things turn out.

Yeah, at first I was gonna have Street Image do the install but I didn't feel like driving up and be stuck there for hours. Plus I always like to challenge myself and feel good after the task is done. Now that it's over, I'm very happy with the outcome. Will let you know the performance gain as soon as I get the chance to "open it up" while driving. Of course it will all be butt dyno! lol.... Hopefully I get to be at the next meet too. You will definitely like the sound inside the car more than before.

thanks for the good lucks guys! the task is done. finished it all last night. when i finally started up my G, i noticed the significance in exhaust tone right away. wow it's sooooo awesome. although while driving, when the rpm reaches 3-4k, that raspy sound can be heard coming out of my stillen exhaust. maybe i need a bigger resonator. gotta call stillen about that. all in all, i'm happy with this mod. time to decide what to get next!!!

How do you like the Stillen Exhaust?

Before the headers, how was it? Did you have HFC?

Are the resonaters stock?

Make sure you go in there again and re-torque the bolts in a week or so.

Congrats on the install.

Just in case anyone else wants to just pay a shop for headers install instead of spending around 10+ hours underneath the car, hit me up.

love the exhaust... came with the car when i bought it. i have the dual wall tip version instead of the single tip. the resonators are attached to the exhaust, therefore it comes with it. my car did come w/ hfc due to malfunction of the stock cats. the car was awesome before the headers... but of course it's alot better now w/ them.

If I were to do it again....... I will have to think about it..........
Same here, start @ 9 in the morning. Stop around 2 pm. and hit it again 9 the next day and finished around 3pm. But that was my 1st with the VQ so the second one I know which tool combination to get all that nut and bolt out instead of run around looking for the right tools.
But it was well worth it when I first fire it up.

Sorry Dru... I got excited when my friend basically gave me the headers. W/ some encouragement from my boy, we started workin on the car right away. Plus the main reason I didn't go up to you is waiting for hours w/o anything to do and w/ no one to get me. Any other install I can't handle, I will definitely roll up to Street Image. Thanks for the advice! I feel like I just bought a new car after doing this install!
