Re: HKS Legamax Exhaust for Coupe
I know, that's not the point. Its the only sample picture for the exhaust provided by HKSUSA. The point is they do have one for G35 Coupe and I like to know if any of the lucky Coupe owner have a first hand experience with it.

Re: HKS Legamax Exhaust for Coupe
I haved the Legamax. It is all 65mm diameter polished stainless steel piping, muffler, and tips. All the welds are beautiful, HKS uses a special computerized pulsing welder that makes the welds look better than a stack of dimes. It follows the same path/configuration as the stock exhaust.
It sounds great and is on the conservative side. Sound is hard to describe but my impressions are that over the whole RPM range the HKS system is slighly louder than stock, but does not have as much peak "bark" at 3500, where the stock is loudest. It is more even throughout the range. Over all it sounds good and definitely has a tuned sound. That being said, it is no more intrusive vs the stock, no buzzing or vibrations inside. For those of you who want a nice tuned sound but still want a system as unitrusive as stock this is an excellent choice! They achieve this by using a new packing/sound deadening material called Advantex. It keeps the system quieter while also providing more durability. A lot of systems get louder over time, this will to hold up better. When I went on a factory tour a few Tokyo Auto Salons ago I also noted that most HKS systems use a special mesh around the perforated pipe on the interior of the muffler to keep packing from getting blown out over time also.
They test fitted the first article on my car and it Dyno'd at 5-6 at the wheels. One thing to be aware of is the picture on the HKS website for the RX8 is not an accurate representation of the G verion. The G version has similar quality piping and muffler but the tips are a rolled edge oval type , not round like stock or the RX8 picture. The tip style is called "Da Moda" and measures 115mm wide x 70mm tall. They also have the "HKS" logo laser etched on top. It has more of a sublte look, not huge coffee can style.
I will be taking pics on a lift in the next week hopfully when I put some other parts on, and I will try to get a copy of the Dyno sheet from HKS. It may be difficult this week as a lot of those lucky bastards are at the Tokyo Auto Salon!
Later,
Gabe

"No bark" is a waste of time only for the posers and the sticker users! If performance is what matters, take a look at the HKS and others.

Ok boys, sorry it took so long. Here is a Sony Image station link with some Hi-Res images. Stay tuned for my wheels post and HKS HIpermax Damper LS+ post.

If there is a probelm with this link let me know, there are 5 pictures and one dyno run. Like most resonsible companies HKS gave me a dyno chart that showed the average of 6 pulls. There were other pulls that showed more peak power but they prefer to show a realistic representation of the product rather than throw up an inflated #, you get in trouble that way. When I made the original post I was actually told verbally by them it was a 5-6 hp increase. After getting the chart you can see peak is actually about 7.5 at the wheels peak, so again they were being conservative.

Re: HKS Legamax Exhaust for Coupe
Fortunatley for me I was able to buy it from HKS for letting them use my car to test a few products. You can find one of thier dealers here:
http://www.hksusa.com/dealers/
I use an authorized dealer near me called Dynamic Autosports. They are pretty good. I'm sure if enough guys were interested they could probably put something together for you. As far as a sound clip goes I can try at some point to do a video clip with my camera but don't hold your breath. I have a regular job and prep income taxes this time of year in addition to that and I don't have much time for that kind of stuff. Sorry guys. From what I understand they have already sold a decent amount. Maybe someone else can do it sooner.
